Area 51 / Maximum Force Combo Arcade Project - BIG UPDATE!

Finally got all the parts I needed for the Area 51 / Max Force combo arcade. If you missed my last video about it, we bought the cabinet for $74 and it came without a PCB or power supply, and we didn't know if the monitor that came with it worked (neither did the seller). I rolled the dice on an "untested" PCB from eBay, got a combo upgrade kit from Arcade Services, and a power supply from Twisted Quarter, and finally got the chance to hook it all up and see if everything worked!

This game is a conversion kit that runs both titles from a single hard drive with a few EPROMs swapped. The kit can convert either an original Area 51 or a Maximum Force into the dual game.

Hello Arcade school - great work! I stumbled across this video looking for a solution for something as I am restoring an Area 51 as well. Hoping you may know what to do. I even posted this on the Arcade Museum Forum and so far no replies, I am struggling with getting into my Area 51 / Maximum Force Test screen – I want to adjust the volume and other settings. I cant figure it out – I even followed the schematics and wired up a test wire to Jamma #15 and nothing – the motherboard has a SELFTEST location for a 3 way switch – but it was busted off. So I soldered in some wires and figured I could “hot wire” it to go into test mode and no go – for the life of me I can’t get in to the test mode. Is there a special sequence I need to follow? Do all the wires for the controls /etc also need to be wired up? I assumed it would be as simple as flipping the switch and then turning on the unit.

So I have a similar cab but the guns don’t track well . Do you have to have another connection for the guns to track better from the jamma harness ? Like a sync wire or something ?

Just picked one up without the monitor glass. Could you tell me what the dimensions of the glass are?

Can you tell me if the adjustments for the flyback focus are accessed through holes on the right side of the monitor frame? My Area51 focus needs to be adjusted but I can't find the knobs.
