The Bridge of Compromise
Summary:
In a magical forest, two goats, Gabby and Gus, embark on an adventure to find the best grass. They meet on a narrow bridge and argue over who should cross first. As their voices attract a crowd of forest animals, the wise owl suggests they work together. Realizing their folly, Gabby proposes a compromise: one goat can bend down while the other jumps over. This clever solution allows both to reach their grassy destinations, teaching everyone the importance of cooperation.
Script:
Once upon a time, in a magical forest full of towering trees and colorful flowers, there were two goats named Gabby and Gus. Gabby was a lively goat with snow-white fur who loved to jump and skip everywhere she went,
while Gus was a strong and steady goat with dark-brown fur who preferred to think carefully before making a move.
One sunny afternoon, the two goats set out on an adventure to find the greenest, juiciest grass in the forest. Little did they know, their paths were about to cross at the old wooden bridge that stretched over the babbling brook.
The bridge was narrow, just wide enough for one goat to cross at a time.
Gabby came leaping from the east, while Gus ambled up from the west. As they met right in the middle of the bridge, they both stopped in surprise. "Move over!" said Gabby excitedly. "I have to get to the other side to taste the delicious grass!"
"No, no, no," replied Gus calmly. "I need to cross this bridge first. There's a field of clover waiting for me!"
Neither goat wanted to back down, and so they began to argue, their loud voices echoing across the forest. This went on for a while, and soon enough, a crowd of curious forest animals gathered to watch. Among them was Wisely, the wise old owl who sat in a nearby tree, shaking his head.
"Oh dear," he hooted softly, "if only they would think of a way to work together." Just then, a gentle breeze blew through the forest, carrying with it the sweet scent of the grasses on the other side of the bridge. Both Gabby and Gus took a deep breath, and something magical happened.
They realized that by standing still and arguing, they were only wasting precious time. "I have an idea!" bleated Gabby, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "What if one of us bends down to let the other jump over? Then we can both cross and reach our grassy destinations!" Gus nodded thoughtfully.
"That could work," he agreed. "Let me lower my head so you can jump across." Gabby beamed with gratitude and gently hopped over Gus, her tiny hooves making a soft thud as she landed safely.
Gus then lifted his head, walked to the other side, and together they both arrived at their delicious patches of grass.
"Thank you, Gabby," Gus said, munching on his long-awaited clover. "And thank you, Gus," replied Gabby, who was already nibbling on some fresh leaves. The forest animals cheered, inspired by the two goats' clever compromise.
From that day on, Gabby and Gus not only told the tale of their bridge story but also became best friends.
And everyone in the magical forest learned the valuable lesson that sometimes, when paths are crossed, compromise leads to progress and brings everyone closer to happiness.
