Hey i just wanted to say thank you for the vid and the info and the illustration. New to superchargers and this helped me figure out why i wasnt building boost🙏🏼

Hi on an audi s5 the valve is electronic and always open, which seems to operate the opposite to a manual one ?

Why would a VMP Gen2R bypass valve cause an overboost MIL?

What exactly controls it though? Is it like a waste gate thats controlled by a boots control solenoid? Or does it just operate using engine vacuum when the throttle is closed?

Is it possible a bypass valve is not closing all the way and can cause lower boost than expected?

Would it be possible to set one up to open when idle and open to bypass higher pressure, for turbos? Or to work in the opposite way only? Or would it already function normal with added turbo/ pre pressure? Allowing for normal idle and also feed around for boost? Compound boost isn’t hard for me to wrap my head around but once you add in this mechanism, it obviously becomes more complicated. I’m only asking for conversation. I own an Eaton swap and have zero compound ambitions. I have seen the question come up before though. Thx. Also, what would be some drawbacks to sticking this shut and always having boost based on engine rpm? Just wondering.

ANY ideas on this? I bought a M90 Eaton TRD supercharger for my 4.7L v8 and noticed the bypass valve was removed and welded the butterfly valve in a slightly cracked open positive so not to make boost at idle. Anyone see problems with this? My guess is to have instant throttle response? My purpose is to make more low end torque at low rpms to pull a trailer up mountains. Should I cut the weld and go back to a vacuum bypass valve...which way is better?

Do you have to block off the inlet if you bypass it?

I had to put my stock one back on. it doesn't want to close it because it's too soft.
