Today's video is a very exciting Adventure in the Kitchen with Janelle! We are veganizing Filipino foods because Janelle is half Filipina and wants to be more plant-based but doesn't want to sacrifice her culture for it! So here is Inihaw Na Manok, also known as BBQ chicken, but vegan :D

♡ Is YouTube your full time job? - No, I work part-time in marketing :)
♡ What does your logo mean? Why isn't your logo using the Vietnamese flag? - Actually I use the South Vietnam flag because it represents Viet Kieu (Vietnamese immigrants after the fall of Saigon), my parents were both boat refugees before immigrating to Canada. My logo combines two parts of my identity: Maple leaf because I'm Canadian, and the South Vietnam flag because I'm Vietnamese :)

LOVE this series - where my Filipino Vegans at?

My family would always make this with pork and use Sprite in the marinade. I'm excited to try this veganized version out!

I'm sure you read every comment and I just want to let you know I love you very much Lisa. I am not a vegan myself but I have followed your channel for more than a year now and whenever I watch your channel, it's like watching a friend. My heart is very happy and I always smile when watching your videos. Sometimes as viewers, it's hard for us to remember that our favourite YouTubers are people and have their own sorrows. After watching your last video, I just want you to know that you are so much more than you believe. You're limitless and I'm here to support you always.

The school lunch conversation is bringing back all the feels of growing up as a first gen kid and being made fun of for bringing what people called "weird food" to school only to know have it be popular in adulthood.

We have TVP that is shaped like small long tubes so we use it to make isaw which is grilled chicken intestines. It's eerily like it but no cruelty!

I adore this video. I loved hearing your stories of growing up and how it related to food. I'm a Janelle, working on eating more vegan because my digestion feels better :)

Cant wait to see more! <3

same. back when i was a teen, i would ask my mom how to make the simplest dish like fried rice, she just can't teach me. it's either you just make it(by feels) or she makes it. lol.
