Traditional Greek Dance in Crete

In Heraklion's Eleftherio Venizelos Square, a trio of Cretan musicians gathered to play traditional music. A crowd of locals soon gathered and were moved by the stirring music to dance. A lithe man dressed in denim, led the chain of dancers, leaped, and twirled to the music. What was particularly thrilling about this was that it was a spontaneous gathering of locals and was not a performance but rather an expression of cultural cohesiveness.
