From Superstar to Scapegoat: Russell Westbrook’s Downfall

Russell Westbrook was one of the most gifted athletes in NBA history, but combined with elite vision and instincts, it created a heliocentric offensive piece. But an offensive piece that felt the brunt of constant media and fan scrutiny for his erratic nature.

So, join me as I delve into the story of Russell Westbrook. He begun in Oklahoma City as the heart and soul of the organisation for a decade. But as he sought new opportunities, the qualities that made him a star in OKC began to falter elsewhere, leading to a decline that left fans and critics questioning his legacy.

his downfall came from never adjusting his game & relying on his athleticism

I think Russ was the prorotypical floor-raiser who was fortunate to play with an all-time hybrid scorer in KD, and that's why for the large part they worked very well together. If not for injuries + bad supporting casts from 2013-16, I think they win a title

The 2012 Westbrook that knocked my Lakers from playoffs was not the same 2022 Westbrook that kept my Lakers from the playoffs.

You deserve more subs very accurate history of Westbrook’s career with no bs made up narratives, you forget to add though okc vs rockets they outscored them when he was on the floor & they were -50 when he was off

Russ is ok just had some bad errors falling for the Lebron okie doke.. the media kill him on the lakers it broke him mentally… can’t have two ball dominant players like that… so they made Russ play pf and stand in corner

100% effort everywhere he goes. you have to respect that part of his game. these are the kind of players that gets the respect of other players they play with or play against.

I see where this Russell Westbrook narrative is going. They can't stand the fact that we actually saw him play and we're not fooled by his highlights and now they're trying to call him the ultimate scapegoat. No, that's his fault. He was not a team player and chose not to adapt and anytime somebody questioned him he played the victim

Russ a fan favourite, cause his playstyle is so entertaining to watch. But he just doesnt play winning basketball. And i never blamed KD for leaving, cause Russ and him just shouldn't have the same shooting volume. Russ has also been exposed to stat padding, nobody can deny that anymore. That being said i hope he wins his championship before he retires, cause i really like him and don't want any great player go out without one, especially an MVP.
