Quite ironically, despite his contribution to the freedom movement since his revolutionary days, Savarkar was not even invited to the independence day celebrations, either in Delhi or in Bombay. In Bombay, the flag was being officially hoisted within half a kilometer of his house. Undeterred, he decided to commemorate the occasion himself (page # 436).

Yes. Our history books have to be written afresh. First Our, Indian Muslims should be educated. The Mughals invaded them also, as they were Hindus. Mughals are not their thathas/paatis. They were cruel to them also. Not only Mughals name but also the British name given to the streets and railway stations should be changed. This is possible when Indian Muslims are adequately educated and they will not feel that their ancestors names are changed. Why do we need a statue for Munroe on the Mount Road at Chennai. It keeps on reminding us that these people were our oppressors. If the next generation asks a question as to why we still celebrate our oppressors, we will not have any answers.
