APD does more than law enforcement. My elderly father missed his connection in WAS and somehow ended up in Baltimore. APD let him wait in their office for the next train to Boston. A sergeant walked dad to the platform and helped him board the train. Norfolk Southern railpigs could take a lesson or 2 from APD.

This video is a real eye-opener. I never realized the Amtrak Police had any real responsibilities besides chasing away photographers.

You're a Federal Marshal and expected to do your duty as Amtrak Officer and depending can respond to any felony committed in your presence. We work with all departments but depending we don't tread on other Police's feet.

I used to want to do this when I was younger, while still in high school, but overtime decided that train crew was definitely much more my thing. I currently work for a shortline, but use Amtrak frequently to get to and from my reporting yard and current residence.

1. What is the starting pay ?
2. Is Amtrak Police a Federal Law Enforcement Agency / Officer.
3. What retirement benefits is there and is there a age restriction to be hired ? .
ie ; Federal Law Enforcement Officers must not be past the age of 37 due to the mandatory retirement age of 57.

I'm retiring from a police department. Did not see an age limit other than being 21ys old at time of testing. Anyone know if there is an restriction?

great job it seems as memory does not recall a single huge law enforcement event on the rails, plenty of seedy transients using the observation car as a bunkhouse at night, and the conductors appeared to be in on the deal, yes, all that is true, so sad, to borrow a phrase
