Given your great expertise in tribology, I wanted to ask you a question that no one has been able to answer ...
Most motor oils use the same type of additive package although in different concentrations from brand to brand and based on the type of application, I would like to know why hardly anyone uses "REAL" EP additives such as sulfurated olefins, chlorinated olefins, etc?
As I understand this type of EP additives are able to modify the hardness end the surface roughness of the components during bundary or mixed lubrication regimes pushing the peaks into the valleys, some producers of these additives claim to have eliminated the problem of acidity and formation of free radicals precursors of sludge due to the reaction between additive and metals.
