I love that the message that appeard when you lie changes.

At first it says something like "Your gears are turning inside".
After you lie enough, it will change to something like "You feel warm inside"

It really raises the bar for what it means to be a "soulslike", they really did their homework

The game does raise the point, as I mentioned to a friend when getting him to play (He has since beat it), but while a lie can hurt, lies can also ease pain, lies can shield someone from something they cannot do anything about anyways.

In this game, a lot of the 'good' lies you can tell are lies of comfort, lies to ease the burden of someone who is at their end, to let them pass in peace, or the like.

And the 'Bad' lies tend to lead astray your enemies and protect those you care about

And the new game pluses keep getting better, with unique upgrades that change how it plays. Phenomenal game

Yeah I dislike most souls games as a general design, though some of the souls-likes are enjoyable. But i definitely enjoyed Lies of P, predominantly BECAUSE it does actually have a story that is framed well in the game. It's not a ton of fan speculation on the plot based on reading a single paragraph in an item description, and then backfilling 2 pages worth of speculative fanfiction as to what's actually going on. I hate that shit.

Lies of P though, yeah it leaves a lot for you to discover, you understand the overall premise from the actual conversations you have with people. It was just well designed narratively, WAY better than pretty much any other souls-like I've played, with the exception of The Surge. Definitely way better than any and all actual FromSoft games. Lies of P actually had some heart to it, no pun intended.

As someone who has not played the game, is the good ending tied to lying? As in, do you get the good ending by lying

To give an idea of how much of a surprise it was:

I went in ready to hate that it was "Pinocchio, but dark souls" and already hating how the character looks before I booted the game. But hey, I don't play these for the story right?

I went out of it caring for the story, and for some of the characters too. (And the gameplay was great too)

Honestly the same way. Also one of my favorite shows as a kid was android kikaida and the animation of it closely related him to Pinocchio so I loved the robotic Pinocchio aspect.

nice short, but on an unrelated note, youtube didn't show who the short was by on my home page and I only saw dooger in the thumbnail, but having not watched her stuff in ages, I saw the thumbnail and was like "wait, who is this twink and why are they in my feed". I was thrown for a loop.

Its so so good, goty for me without question. It was one of those games where it felt like everything had been catered for me to personally enjoy. Too good.

Me too, its so annoying when FROMSOFTWARE literally put puzzle in item & weapon description to know the main story. While in LoP main story delivery is much much better, literally every NPC you meet will tell you what happened, whats going on, and what will happen. For example Gemini is useful for me to reminds me where am i, where to go or what i have to do in current area. Also that quest icon in stargazer teleportation is so much useful.
