Turkey was hit by a major earthquake a year ago, hundreds of thousands were made homeless. The reconstruction process is sluggish.

Ruined cities - and disappointed hopes. A year after devastating earthquakes in southeastern Turkey, hundreds of thousands of people in the region are still holding out in temporary shelters. President Erdoğan had promised rapid reconstruction, but this is still a long time coming.
Engin Aşkar: "We are hoping to resurrect this place, but sometimes I think we're just fooling ourselves."
Many earthquake survivors are haunted by trauma and fears, especially children. They long for a little comfort and normality - as they struggle to rebuild their lives.

As a Turk, I would like to thank all of you for your good wishes. But I must point out that these are not God's fault, but the fault of the government and President Erdogan.

Trust me, i went to the region on the 2nd day of the earthquake and I witnessed the whole situation with my own eyes.

It's heartbreaking to see this. I'm Syrian and I can relate to what they have gone through and are still going through. To get displaced, to get traumatized, to worry about the future on a daily basis, ... I understand all of that. But Turkish people are strong and I tend to believe that everything will get better very soon inshallah. May Allah make it easy for all Muslimes around the world wherever they are.

Turkey has managed the earthquake much better than Iran regime. In Iran the victims don't even get a temporary shelter and nobody makes report about them. But the people themselves help the victims voluntarily. Which is sometimes very impressive and heart touching. I wish these people get their real home soon back. Amin.

The government of Turkiye has done a great job to provide these amenities to affected people. Look at its neighbor country Iran, a few months before this event there was a smaller earthquack in northwestern Iran and still the government has not rebuild those houses, and people are living in tents for several months!

Earthquakes happen not only in Turkey. So long as the country is located on the seismological faulty line, it cannot be spared. They need to be prepared with evacuation plan and essentials for the future earthquakes.

How could the government allow such bad building conditions to happen? My heart goes out to the people who passed away and who struggle.

I like how Turkey has projected how resilience they are and the aftermath of the floods they still built the temporary houses for civilians. I if I had one of those houses for me it would be a castle living in shacks here in Tembisa

Brilliant documentary, my fear is that the pressure to rehouse the people quickly and the economic hardships will make shoddy building practises too tempting to avoid, and hence a repeat is likely.

It's is so weird to see how some act. While because of their action God has send them a warning but some still stay on their old ways.
