At the end, the truth is deep inside Hans Niemann...

The guy was a 17 year old IM 2 years ago who apparently cheated in hundreds of games and in price events online and now all of the sudden he's a super GM with the steepest trajectory in chess history? I mean I believe in innocent until proven guilty but I also believe in common sense

If Hans is solid over the board but needs to cheat online you have to ask yourself how does that make any sense?

After you cheat in a money game for anything, you don't get to say you would never cheat, because you did at least once.

Danny was probably thinking the same thing that all the people attacking Hikaru and Magnus was thinking. "he's just a kid", "i don't want to ruin a kid's future", ect. And look where that got us today.

Why are so many people still so hung up on the issue that, "he's young"? I mean, so what?

First of all, not all young players are cheaters, so if we kick out one of them who is a cheater, there are plenty more young players with integrity, that can be recognized.

Second, the statement "I spend/dedicated my entire life on, so-and-so" means a whole lot less when you are young. Sorry, a 19 year old who dedicated their entire life to something just doesn't count as much as someone who dedicated 30+ years to it. In fact, because he is young, that means he has plenty of time to pursue other things.

And lastly, another common defense I see for him, regarding his age is, "well, imagine if my life was ruined for using aimbot on Call of Duty when I was 15?", As if that argument even helps him. For example, if you had used some hack to cheat at CoD, and were caught, you'd get a ban, or a suspension. What wouldn't have happened is, you would not have been invited to their major eSports tournament for the game you cheated in, regardless of your age. You would have been banned from whichever game you cheated in, and so, you'd most likely move on to another game, which is what should happen to Hans, if he is indeed a cheater. He should be banned from chess, but his punishment should not extend beyond the chess community.

TL:DR, I just don't understand why we need to treat this situation with kids glove, just because of his age.

Hans wants to reach to the top so he can get closer to Hikaru but Hikaru loves Magnus. Love Gambit

It's super weird to me when GMs demand an impossible threshold of evidence in order to believe a known serial cheater cheated, yet require very little evidence to believe that the world's best chess player staked his reputation on this without having some kind of endgame.

Another thing, people keep saying it's Magnus that's ruining another GM's career and not that GM that made the choice to cheat and then continued to do that for at least the next 8 years. Hans is ruining his career not Magnus.

he also lied about what he was doing during the pandemic, he said he was preparing and studing hard to prove him self as a player and instead he was cheating in online prize money chess events

The graph at 10:45 is so shady.. if you notice that massive drop in rating prior to the final increase, you can make the case he stopped using engine moves and his rating instantly decreased

All I'm getting out of these videos is: Hikaru, renowned data specialist also plays professional chess in his spare time.

IMHO, Chess is becoming similar to Esports where online play matters. And in the Esports world, if you cheated online even in "random games", Zero-Tolerance policy comes into play and you get banned from competition regardless of online or offline (OTB for chess).

Bans should have never messed with Hikaru's one true love. He couldn't resist, that victory was deep felt.

One thing, if he cheated and won prize money, he should have to return said prize winnings at the bare minimum before being allowed to play again. The same should be true for his rating points, he might still be an IM

That time I got reincarnated in the body of a chess player but I was actually a data scientist in my previous life

I hope the report talks about the time Hans said "it's beadin' time" and beaded all over the board.

Just think about poor poor Hans! 🥺

He's basically a baby! Nobody knows that cheating is bad at 17 🥺

Poor guy got accused of cheating after cheating to steal prize money by cheating....what a victim! 😭

He's only 19! He has no way of knowing that lying and cheating is bad! 😭
