If they find a bigger one they're gonna have to call it superdupersaurus

When will they ironically name one of these group of dinosaurs tinysaurus? They're running out of words that mean 'big'.

For those who don't use freedom units: it's between 39 and 42 m long

Can’t wait until they find an even longer one. Looking forward to ultrasauris.

the name of this dinosaur seems like a name given to it by a new intern that forgot to complete their assignment and made last minute adjustments

Me, an uncivilised barbarian, would appreciate if you added the metrics in these too ❤️

To be fair, I think it sounds better than Longosaurus, which *might* have been my first pick.

Wait, hasn't the name Supersaurus been around since at least the 1970s?

"They found the new longest dinosaur ever, it's called the Supersaurus, " sounds like something my 7 year old son would make up

Honestly I'm suprised there wasn't already a dinosaur called 'supersaurus', so that's pretty rad!

So I know what he's talking about. Back in 2014, there was a neck vertebrae of a Sauropod found in Canada dating back to the Late Jurassic which was 4.5 feet long. Called BYU 9024, it was at first considered to belong to a giant individual in the Barosaurus genus, but was considered possible Supersaurus material. The estimates for this beast is 148 ft and 60 t.

Imagine if the supersaurus fossil was a baby

I sometimes wonder if some of these extra-enormous species are actually individuals of another species suffering from gigantism.

Probably not, but I do wonder. Especially when we don't have complete skeletons.

If you stomped on its tail, it took a month for the pain signals to reach its brain and another seven days for it to go "OUCH!"

It's absolutely mind boggling to me that we have as many fossils as we do, and yet it was still a RARE occurrence!!
