HERE is what Trump promised to do on 'day one'

Donald Trump has a long list of executive actions he says he wants to carry out on his potential first day back in the White House.

Among them: Begin mass deportations, eliminate perks for electric vehicles and ban transgender women from women’s sports.
Trump has made 41 distinct promises about what he says he wants to do “on day one” as president, and he has mentioned those promises more than 200 times on the campaign trail, according to a Washington Post analysis of his speeches from his campaign launch in Nov. 2022 to Sept. 2024.

While presidential candidates often trumpet their plans for their first day in the White House, Trump has leaned especially hard on this rhetorical device when he’s behind the teleprompters. His proposals often envision stretching the powers of the Oval Office beyond how previous presidents — including Trump himself — have invoked them.

He also promised not to fund schools that require vaccination. The MMR vaccine is crucial. Mumps, measles, and the German measles (Rubella) are deadly

"face legal challenges" i don't think that's going to be an issue with the supreme court in his pocket and presidential immunity

They mock Trump's critics for being afraid of him, not realizing that the whole idea behind our country's existence is that we aren't supposed to have any reason to fear our leaders.

Existential dread aside, his cadence of speech makes it sound likes he's getting ready to go into some slam poetry

This won't end well for anyone who's not rich enough to be immune

Unfortunately, false promises are the oxygen of political campaigns. Someone who's not an expert (politicians included) isn't able to recognize if something is possible to accomplish or not.
Everything is based on key words and a Boolean idea of good and bad (people only read "immigration NO", "trans NO", without really trying to understand what people are talking about)

Somehow I don’t think it’ll be nearly that difficult for him to follow through on these things with the senate and Supreme Court being loyal to him
Which is horrifying

Don't feel comforted by the fact he can't legally do these things. in 2016 I was comforted that most of his promises were unconstitutional, because I foolishly thought that meant he couldn't do them. But he just.. did it. He would tweet some random nonsense and the next day the government would scramble to follow his orders. News articles would be published saying "actually, the president doesn't have the power to do this" but then it would be done anyways.

People have forgotten how awful Trump's presidency was.

There are so many things in history that literally cannot be taught about without explaining racism. Are we just going to have a generation of kids who literally don’t know about the colonization of the Americas? About the civil war? About WW2? Literally how are teachers supposed to explain slavery without explaining racism??? I don’t feasibly see a way for that to be possible…

"The president doesn't have the power to do some of these. And even the ones in his purview would face legal and logistical challenges "

....so you're saying instead of apocalyptic, it would simply be very unpleasant

For some odd reason, I'm not at all reassured.

2028: the wall is in ruins due to the government stiffing the contractors on their invoices and racoons have overrun the white house after RFK filled it with rotting roadkill.

Now that the USA has elected Lex Luthor for president (you know: the combo of Trump and Elon Musk ...) you really give me Daily Planet vibes.😊

don’t remind him! he probably said a lot of this stuff off the cuff, and the best hope is that maybe he forgot a bunch of it!
