Assessing the Use and Impact of Telemedicine in the Primary Care Setting for People with Dementia

Julia Adler-Milstein, PhD is a Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Clinical Informatics & Digital Transformation at the University of California, San Francisco. She conducts empirical research that guides the U.S. healthcare system towards effective health information technology adoption and use. Her specific expertise is in policy and organizational strategies related to the use of IT in healthcare delivery. Her research assesses the progress of health IT adoption; the impact of such adoption on healthcare costs and quality; and the relationships between market, organizational, and team structure and health IT use. This work includes studying the adoption and use of telemedicine. Over the past five years, Dr. Adler-Milstein’s work has shifted to focus on the use of health IT to support care of older adults, and in particular people with dementia.
