Navient, one of the nation's largest student loan companies, has settled allegations of predatory lending practices, agreeing to cancel $1.7 billion in debt for more than 60,000 borrowers. It will also pay out $95 million in restitution to 350,000 borrowers.

Let me get this straight? The people who weren't paying their loans back are the ones who are going to have their loans forgiven? But people who did pay their payment all along and still owe are not going to be forgiven? Because one of the criteria for forgiveness is that the loans are in default?

Student loans have been a big problem for years the high interest rate is ridiculous especially they are government loans they should never be having such a high interest rate it makes it nearly impossible for low-income people that did go to school but still can't make enough money to make the payments totally ridiculous to u.s. is supposed to be the richest country in the world and yet other countries have free education along with the free healthcare it is ridiculous

My wife and I paid off all our student loans within 2 years of attaining our end jobs. So I guess I can expect a check in the mail from Navient since we were 2 of the few responsible ones? 🤣🤣🤣
