VW Transporter T4 (AJT) 2.5 TDI engine timing marks

This video will show you where to find timing marks on a VW Transporter T4 (AJT) 2.5 TDI engine. My van has manual transmission and it is MY 2002. These should also work at least on an ACV coded engine. About a week ago the diesel injection pump belt pulley stripped the teeth out of the belt and the engine stopped running. The official timing mark for the camshaft is on the injection pump, but because of the broken belt it's no use. I needed to find out where the marks are for the camshaft and in addition also the injection pump timing marks. I haven't yet assembled my engine, but after my research I'm pretty confident about the marks.

Very useful video, have pump changed and first time been watching it so I just skipped a little bit till marks, but ofcourse I missed flywheel mark so been struggling for some hours 😀 and all it took it's just to see it once again without skipping. So now my van runs as it used to 👌 thank you so much

@7:00 just under the timing mark of the pump, is a bolt with a spacer. When all timed up, undo the bolt enough to remove the spacer “don’t lose it! Or forget to refit it later” tighten the bolt and that will lock the injection pump in position.

If the mark on clutch flywheel is not visible is there any other way to set the timing

#1 cylinder - TDC
Corresponding lobes on Camshaft will be - UP. This will ensure Camshaft isn't 180° out.

Moikka, vaihdoin sylinterikannen tiiviste on Caravelle t4 moottori tyyppi AAB. Nyt ei käynnisty se on pois ajoissa. Miten voidaan korjata? Missä Suomessa olet?

Hi Antti can you give me any further information please on the pump setting up.
I've been using a dti gauge to get the 0.55 lift to time pump but won't start. Changed pump because it was weak it took me 2 months in spare time to get running now back to square one with new pump.
Please any help would be appreciated very much thank you

My flywheel is rusty so there's lots of marks that look like the timing mark can't I open the injector and put a rod down no1 to get TDC?
