Boris Johnson announces UK is ‘past the peak’ of the coronavirus disease

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced the UK is "past the peak" of the coronavirus disease.

Speaking at the daily press conference, the prime minister said that the country is "on the downward slope".

But Mr Johnson did add that until there is a successful vaccine we may have to "beat this disease by our growing resolve".
