Choosing the right tone I have a cool, warm and neutral foundation all the same shade but different in tone.

I applied the three tones to the cheek,jaw and neck.

The warm tone is showing up too yellow on her skin due to her strong yellow tones found in her skin.

The cool tone is showing too much pink, it is not totally wrong but it is a little too pink.

Where are the neutral tone is blending and working with the tones on the face and the neck.

So my model would be best to use a neutral tone of foundation, as its equal parts yellow and pink. Both these tones are found in her skin so that's why the blended tone works.

Once again I have used three shade and I've applied all three to the cheek,jaw and neck.

My model face and neck is the same shade so she is going to pick the one that disappears which in this case is the middle shade. Blends from the face down the neck.

For a comparison I applied a darker shade to just her neck so her face and neck are two different shades
and I've reapplied three foundations,

The first shade blends with face but its too light for the neck
The darker shade is too dark for the face and for the neck
whereas the middle shade is darker on the face but blends with the neck

So if when we apply this foundation to the face it will blend with the neck and that is the look we are going for, a seamless effect from face to neck!

I showed like that on camera but as I explained she has yellow tones everywhere else so the pink tone would show up in contrast which we don't want to do, if you look at the second foundation test the middle one I applied is a yellow toned foundation and see how it blends? that's why neutral works best for her :)

Shade is light to dark. The three foundations I showed are all light shades but one has yellow, one has pink and one is a blend of both.

Thank you so much for this! I was using the wrong tone of L'Oreal True Match Foundation (C3-Creamy Natural). It was too red and looked too light in pictures. I'd tried the warm shade, and that was too yellow. So now I'll just get the neutral tone (n4-Buff Beige). You are the absolute best Sineady Cady!

You would use a lighter shade on your face so it will blend with your neck.

I understand but those two videos you are talking about are theory, this is the demo I had a lot of requests to do a demo on what I was talking. I wanna show how to put it into practice you know? Just wanna explain it as best I can :)

Yeah I know but if you saw her arms, and the rest of her face you would pick the neutral tone but I know I would too if I was just looking at that part of her face but I was judging her as a whole self as I said in the video I was going off her yellow colouring every where else :)

Thats Such a great help! I'm hoping to try the vichy dermablend this week.i need a foubdation/concealer as I have bad darkness under and round the eyes.i need something that covers really well and stays.i think I will end up mixing two shades sand and gold to get a good match.
