Thanks to Andy and all the UnpluggedEV group for working on this solution together. We've gone from nearly a day to just 10 seconds in weeks. Amazing work!

Here are the steps.
Start charging the car.
While charging turn on car (it won’t go ready because charging)
Disconnect 12v battery
Disconnect EV charger
Car will die
Connect 12v again and you’ll have ev charging service required messages
BMU is now reset and will show 40Ah
Turn car on and off to clear EV Service message, battery will now drop to 38Ah.

Legend! We were on the way to the airport when our car wouldn’t start. This fixed the issue and because of you we didn’t miss our flight ✈️

My wife’s 2014 3H has done 100K miles from new. It has also never been fast charged, so the batteries have had an easy life. However the EV range had progressively decreased to only 16 usable miles. So I did the hack and it worked first time. The range fluctuated for a week or so but it’s now showing 25 miles range consistently. Fantastic and thanks for the hack. I suspect differing software / firmware versions through the production run may account for success of the hack or not....

Thanks so much Andy, and thanks God! Our 2014 Outlander Aspire had apparently "degraded" so much that we could only get about 9km and would sometimes (once the EV battery was "empty") stop with "EV Service Required" and need to be restarted on the freeway (very dangerous) - so we were needing to use the "Charge" and "Save" functions to stop this from happening. Also it was accepting only about 3KWH from empty to full.

With fuel prices through the roof and Mitsubishi quoting $12000 just for supplying a new battery, and us not really being in a position to buy a new car ATM, (especially as the car is still in solid condition apart from the battery), I was investigating if anyone could rebuild it or provide an equivalent battery. After praying about it, I so glad I came across this video - it has saved us a fortune.

I had only just started charging from empty when I did the procedure, and it then showed a range of 36km, and the gauge indicated about 3/4 full. It took a few times of restarting to clear the "EV Service required". I took it for a very short drive around the block, and it dropped to 32km. So I fully charged it overnight, and it showed 55km (the same as it used to show when new). I drove it 12km this morning (a trip I had not been able to to without the battery going flat), before charging it again. It was down to 3/4 full again, but I can't remember how many km it though I still had. I expect there will have been some degradation, and I will need to see how it goes over the next few weeks, but at this stage it is looking like there is not actually much wrong with the battery at all - I am cautiously optimistic. Thanks again.

Mitsubishi needs to take notice of this.

Hallo Andy!

Just found this after buying a 15 reg with 94000 miles on it. Bought the car this 4 days ago. The Max charge was at 18 miles each night, did the reset just now and it instantly jumped to 22 miles. Not driven it yet but will see tomorrow and see how it holds up on a 9 year old battery over coming weeks 👀 loving the PHEV so far

Thank you very much for the movie. Indeed, the battery in my Outlander recovered from 69% to 98.5%. A very effective and simple method to reset the battery. Thank you for the link too, best regards Mariusz Marciński
