Hello!!! I hope you are all having an amazing day that is hopefully not too stressful. In today's IB advice video I talk about how to score a 7 on the IB biology internal assessment and give you my best tips and advice for the biology IA. In this video I go through my own IA and basically just show you how to write your entire IA from scratch by explaining what the conventions are for the IB biology IA and pointing out a variety of common flaws the IB has mentioned in previous subject reports, which will hopefully show you how to get a level 7 on the bio IA. My own research focused on E. coli and was practical research therefore this is likely to be especially helpful for anyone doing practical research on microbes, however, much of what is said in this video also applies to simulations just to a lesser extent. I really hope this video helps you and saves you some time because ik many of us are running short on time and IB can be super stressful. Good luck with your IA!

P.S. I forgot to include a table of contents, so the timestamps are below:
IB Marking Criteria: 1:11
The General Structure 1:44
Other General Notes: 2:10
Background Information 2:33
Choice of Materials: 6:59

⭐NOTE: If you have any questions please ask your questions in the comments of this video instead of sending me an email or Instagram DM. It is much easier for me to track your questions here, I will probably respond faster, and it avoids me having to answer the same questions multiple times. Tx :) ⭐

Hey- I don't think I've ever left a comment on YouTube before, but this is definitely a worthy first :) I just wanted to thank you for making this video and being so insightful and comprehensive throughout. It's truly inspiring to see how much effort you put into not only your IA itself, but also discerning all the nuances of the marking criteria that distinguish a 6 from a 7. I'm writing my own IA now, and although it differs quite significantly from yours in nature (mine is based on a simulation), your tips and insight have been genuinely invaluable to my writing process and overall understanding of what examiners are actually looking for. Wishing you all the very best and thank you again x

I'm also measuring inhibition zones with E.Coli, but I have two IVs, so I don't want to overcomplicate this too much considering that. Your video really helped give me an idea of how I want to structure everything, tysm!

Hi Zelda! Thank you so much for the video ❤. I am writing my Bio IA at the moment. I conducted data from students which was their reaction time and I have one question. Should I still write the Health & Waste Disposal part? Also, do you have to in-text cite / footnote your sources?

Hi! Love the video, thanks for the tips! A question- since COVID is very intense where I am, we were only allowed limited time in our labs to perform the experiment so I could not do the pilot study. Will that be a problem?

hi! omg your video was so so so so great. I however have a question regarding your hypothesis. I am a bit confused as to why you put two, the Ho and H1. Would it be okay if you could explain what each mean? And seriously, thank you so much for the advice <3

Hi Zelda! The video was extremely helpful! Are you still offering to tutor people with their bio IA's?

thank you for the video :))) I just had a question, I have a really large data table of about 70 values which would take up one and a half pages to be in the document. Is it worth including it or is a sample enough?

Can you do video with examples of topic of Biology IA? OR write some in description or write your own research question?

Thank you for this video
How do you determine whether the source you use for the IA is reliable ?

Hi, amazing video! I was wandering where did you saw the IA samples and the comments from the exam-boards, is it cool if you send the website

I have a question, can we do an experiment that's be done before as long as it's not plagiarized and it's our own work.

I'm doing - Impact of Age on Reaction Time to Visual Stimulus

But also, yk control variables right?, so um do people's characteristics like race, or skin color? Will have to be controlled or can it be anY?

Hi! I have a quick question! My IA is also going to conducted by using E.coli bacteria, so should I write under the research question the protocol you wrote, and if I may ask, was the S1 safety laboratory in your school? Because I'm not sure if that's where I conducted mine

I have this one crucial question cause our teachers keep mentioning opposing things. Should the ia ne double spaced or not? The ee is known to be double spaced but what about the bio ia??, please guys anyone …..

Hi would it be possible to upload your appendix (the ones that contain your safety procedures) as well? I am also doing a Microbiology lab and I know that safety and ethical consideration is a big thing!
