Oceangate manufactured a submersible out of a material lacking compressive strength, so it imploded at depth -- very straightforward.

They knew they sent the message they dropped the weights which means they knew there was a problem then it pinged 6 seconds later so they had at least 6 seconds to know something is wrong

The great tensile strength of carbon fibre is utterly irrelevant. A tube under external pressure is compressed, not tensed.
If you twist or bend a garden hose, you will see it close in on itself at the bend. If you want to stop watering your flowers for a second with a garden hose, that's what you do: you bend it; you don't walk over to the tap first.
That's what happened to Titan: it was a tube.

Aramids and Carbon fibres have great lateral strength, but they rely on a plastic polymer (resin) for their construction. That polymer (poly-ester or vynal-ester) has as much strength as your average coke bottle.
