Jeez model trains is an elite hobby nowadays.

What the heck's going on with Hornby???
I mean, making their own Titfield thunderbolt train pack when they DO NOT have the exclusive rights to the film property???? That's honestly disgusting... Rapido trains got there first Hornby, deal with IT!

Can't wait to see how that pans out for them! XD

please guys.. don't buy Hornby's Thunderbolt... It might teach them a lesson!

Nobody is fooled by the "Inspired by" prefix on the Titfield Thunderbolt train set. Rapido Trains have exclusive rights to produce said model, so its another case of Goliath stamping of David from Hornby. Thankfully, Studio Canal are known to be extremely litigious over their intellectual property and so Hornby should prepare for a big financial rap on the knuckles for this - and justifiably so.

The prices are absolutely insane now, some great looking models but dont think I'll be ordering anymore. Real shame as that turbomotive looks fantastic but just way too expensive

I see that, despite being a "completely independent" magazine, Hornby Magazine here managed to completely avoid any mention that Rapido are already producing Lion and the Titfield Thunderbolt set. I suppose Hornby thinks it can justify this by also marketing its Lion model as part of a set "inspired" by another film, albeit one that absolutely nobody has heard of. But at Hornby Magazine its just great news all the way!

I'm not surprised that the comments section is mainly negative, aimed at the bizarre prices but it'sa bit of a shame for the hobby in general. The annual Hornby range announcement used to be a time of great excitement. All modellers looked forward to it but, importantly, kids looked forward to it. OK, most kids couldn't run out and buy an A4, with a full train of coaches, but a mid-sized loco was achievable and then there were birthdays and Christmas.
I wonder how many parents watched this, who aren't in the hobby themselves, but have kids who are. How many of those parents are going to punt £500 on a train for their 12 year-old's layout? Grandparents can be a "go-to" for a special loco but, again, how many are going to pay £250 for a toy engine?
££ - 𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝑯𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑬𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒚 𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒅 - ££ for a class 08 - REALLY? Come on Hornby, get a bloody grip!!

Class 802 4 car set for £500 but wait don't worry Hornby has you covered for the extra carriage.. possibly an extra £50 on top.... this is insane pricing... Hornby the local highway men out to squeeze every penny out of the pensioners funds

Thank you for producing this video of the New Hornby 2022 range. As a modern traction modeller I am very happy with some of the announcements. It is unfortunate that two of our model railway companies are going to land in Court over the "rights" to producig Lion.

The Class 801, 802, and 803 train packs are daylight robberies. Five hundred quid for a 4 or 5 car train pack. I seriously hope these have some sort of interior lighting and amazing detail. I got excited for the TPE Class 802 but that £500 price tag put it all to an end. Better stick to getting a Class 91.

Wow. These prices have pushed me out the market for buying new locos/trains.

So it’s £45 for a MK1 coach these days is it? I’ll stick with my 1980s versions I don’t think anyone ever beat the Mainline MK1 buffet for detail since anyway 🤣

The owner of AGR Model Railway Store last week told me Hornby are raising all their prices by 10% from this February

Well, I've been officially priced out of any new hornby steam locomotives.

Let me wish Hornby Railways a pair of happy anniversaries. I would add that my last purchased train set was Tri-Ang Hornby one as mentioned before.

I was delighted to see the L M S Turbomotive 6202 on the list of new introductions. The images looked good however the tender revealed a glaring error . The Turbo and even when rebuilt carried a 9 ton Stanier tender which was unique in that the footsteps on the tender had both sides curved, not one side straight as normal on an ordinary 9 ton tender. Even after the Harrow crash the tender was reused and went behind 48134 still with the double curved steps .

The last train set I actually purchased was a very old Tri-Ang set with a Jinty with Syncrosmoke, a track and two car transporter trucks.

I wish I could afford some of these. The pricing has gone completely mad. £60 coaches with no lights😳.
