I’m glad the trio managed to take the reality check slap in the face by their audience and roll with the punches. Early access and a transferable subscription from a separate platform is probably the safest way to go about it without scrapping the time and resources going into their new platform.

One of the other YT'ers who looked at this said the biggest issue is that the team is too big, and if they just cut some bloat they could actually make a profit without resorting to this. It's good they walked it back, but I think that's still a big problem that needs to be fixed.

It’s overall a good apology, but I feel like they’ve missed something huge when they’re talking about all the ways their fans support them. Their fans don’t just support them by watching their shows, buying their merch, etc. THEY SUPPORT THEM BY PROVIDING THEM WITH CONTENT TO MONETISE.

So much of their content is dependent on their fans submitting their work to them for free. Too Many Spirits and Are You Scared are literally just them reading their fan’s writing. They just put out a submission call for the new season of Too Many Spirits last month, fully intending to put that season behind a paywall without telling the fans who responded that they’d have to pay to see them read their own work.

Ghost Files and Food Files also have key segments with fan submitted material. How the fuck did they think this was ethical?!

I'm not going to give them 'props' for doing what we all knew had to be done and soon as they released the first video. An apology is the only way they could survive.

They listened to feedback and acknowledged they messed up, but honestly, it's gonna be a very long while before I will resubscribe or even watch their content again. They've shown that they're willing to alienate their most loyal fans in order to squeeze money out of them. That's not something I'm going to forget about just because they finally did something that they should've done in the first place.

While I still don't understand how they're not doing so well on YouTube financially, I'm really glad they listened to the fans. Yes they should have probably done this before, but I'm really glad they have realized and have made a business model that works for everyone.
