80k is insane. Who wants a 1300 car payment for 7 years. The truck market is broken

I agree with you about shifters. I much prefer the simplicity of a column shifter or even just a normal PRNDL console shifter like the one we have in our GMC Canyon. Fortunately you can still get a column shifter in the GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado if you order the bench seat in trims that offer that option.

Also, you mentioned that Ford should take notes from GM regarding their 10-speed automatic; the longitudinal 10-speed automatic that GM uses is actually the exact same unit Ford uses. GM and Ford developed a couple of transmissions together in a technology share agreement with Ford taking the lead on the longitudinal 10-speed and GM taking the lead on the transverse 9-speed. Ford ended up opting out of using the 9-speed in their transverse applications (probably a good thing since the 9-speed has been very troublesome for GM) and both companies use the 10-speed in their longitudinal applications. That's not to say there isn't a difference between GM and Ford applications of the transmission, it's likely they each use their own proprietary computers and programming to operate the transmission which could alter shift points and such, just an interesting piece of automotive trivia.

I must say that I agree about the column shifters. I find it pretty funny that they decided to take away center console storage space in order to mount the shifter there, especially Ford and their egregiously pointless fold flat shifter. I mean cmon, if you just had it column mounted it would be out of the way. I owned a previous gen silverado with the center console and the storage area now taken up by the shifter was a huge plus to me, I could fit my gloves, phone, wallet, gum, and sunglasses case in that cavern.

I have the 2022 ZR2 Silverado, I have to say its a super super comfortable truck. Glad I saved like 7k with the Chevy, and yeah the Manual mode pisses me off since it doesn't really up shift when I force it to....it does when it decides to, like it's a limit for the trans like if I shift up to 7th gear for instance, it just won't go passed it, but it certainly won't just got straight to the gear. The clearance is more difference because of the 32 vs 33 inch tires too

Was expecting more sound from this 6.2L. Had a 2021 F150 5.0L and it sounded way better stock. Unfortunately sold it because the dealer gave me more than I paid for it after a year 😂

I agree the AT4 package is sharp but I cannot imagine why someone would purchase GM right now, especially Chevy.

You pay a considerable premium and so much of their engineering seems half thought out. For example. They give you this random electronic shifter that just sits there. For 80k at least give it the option to lay itself down or give it a turn knob instead or something! I don’t understand how GM gets away with their pricing.

My whole life, my dad has driven a 5.3 Chevy v8 Tahoe… until 2 years ago. Drove an ‘00 LS to almost 200k and a ‘12 LS to 170k and honestly I think he would’ve driven those trucks longer had he not beat them to death by using them as trash cans and letting them sit in saltwater at boat ramps. He got a 2018 5.3 LS Tahoe and was surprised that he was spending almost 20 grand more than 6 years prior. Similar engine but it was the tech that sucked. Made the truck undrivable due to it literally limiting speeds to 20 mph At least once a week for a month (right after the 40k warranty expired)(this essentially stranded him as his commute is 45 mins of interstate driving). Went through two fuel pumps, infotainment constantly bugged out, and the 55k mile truck was in the shop constantly. After being told nonchalantly by a Chevy tech that “they make them to break”, he found a used 4Runner and has been driving it since. Says he will never buy a GM product again.

My father ordered a gmc canyon at4. He was going to get this but wanted a mid size pickup instead of full size. I like gmc trucks but need big money if you want a baller truck

You dont buy a truck for speed you buy it for towing capabilities. You cant have the best of both worlds between horsepower AND torque out of the gate with a NA engine. If I want speed Ill get a sports car. Having a supercharged truck with 600+ HP is just not necessary for most situations. Sure its cool as shit but not realistic or feasible for most people
