I love how enraged it makes Russia that Turkiye is doing this sort of business with Ukraine.

Bayraktar story is simple. During the invasion, Russians didn't activate all anti air because they were afraid to shoot down their own planes. Once they stopped flying missions, they could just shoot down anything that was in the sky. The return is a good sign because it means that there are holes in the Russian air defence.

BTW, its use never stopped. It just became restricted to ISR duty because it’s quite vulnerable as an attack platform.

I'd heard it speculated that it was a spec forces team on the boat, but it was quite a bang when it got hit.
After seeing the FPV hits over the last 6-8months turning APC and Trucks into a mess with just an RPG warhead. Sort of forgot how hard the Bayraktar ordinance used to hit things, its definitely not much fun to have one of those land on your little wagon or they'll be picking bits of you out of the next paddock over.

TB2 Bayraktar is a big/valuable and dangerous enough target that I would think Russian primary air defence systems would be interested in engaging it if possible.
An uptick in usage could also indicate that Ukraine is "testing the waters" (or rather, testing the skies) over the occupied territory to see how well any Russian air defences might be working, without needing to risk the lives of any of their pilots. Also I would expect also that many of Ukraine's experienced pilots are now actively training for F16s and hence, potentially Ukraine does not have many pilots available to fly sortees currently, in which case, it is great news if TB2 is able to pick up some of that slack.
It's great to see TB2 in action again in any case.

The live footage shows 6 Russians on the boat getting totally obliterated and possibly 2 on the shore injured, it was quite nasty. A very quick death I'd say
