Height of Stupidity

The nation went into an uproar this week when the “culprit,” Ranveer Allahabadia, made a crude joke on Samay Raina’s now infamous show, ‘India’s Got Latent’. From people to news anchors to YouTubers, everybody is beating their chests about how insensitive and disgusting Ranveer Allahabadia is. The incident has garnered so much outrage that our political leaders and religious gurus have reached a point where they have demanded Ranveer’s arrest and even encounter. Yes, you heard that right.

But I have an unpopular opinion - I believe that this incident is getting way more attention than it deserves. Yes, Ranveer’s comment was insensitive and I do not support what he said. However, I do support Freedom of Expression. And let me tell you this – whatever upheaval this non-issue has caused is just a way to distract you and me from much more pressing issues that need our attention rather than a stupid joke by a YouTuber. Give me 20 min and I will tell you why I say this.

This is what we expect the content creators (Creators like mohak bhai) to be. The pace of the video is the best thing. It's a sad thing that a very few creators (again, like him👆🏼) care to actually explain the situation going on. Really liked how you unfolded the entire scenario.

At first, it looked like it was going to be yet another update video, but I'm glad you spoke about the core issue in the second half. Any public personality's currency is visibility, including you. Atleast, you are using it to speak common sense.

Also, I wish to add that the potential of stupidity lies not only in the creators but also, more importantly, in the consumers. I really wish you spoke a little more about that because, let's be honest, most consumers are suffering from logic and taste degradation. That's what really needs to change. People need to consume better, demand better. When people understand that the power actually lies with the citizens and not the "ruling" state, can we really shift responsibility.

Thanks Mohak for being so articulate eachtime for such serious issues in our country. I believe some fault lies in our public as well, since we are the only ones who react to such situations. Spending more time and efforts on education could greatly change the outlook of our country. I hope our people (especially our politicians) will start paying more attention into identifying and solving real problems in our country instead of targeting certain individual on such trivial matters to get attention.

Came across this video today after so much of the unnecessary ones, this was so on point and love how it explained things in details that would also help the people who doesn't know the basic minimum details about what happened and yet is choosing to speak on such crucial topic without making any sense, love how the video covers up the basic sensibility that nowadays needs to be taught to people to make them understand a simple thing in even simpler words because of how truly they make such louder voices against some shows than they would for some actual cases happening in the country .
