The U.S. is recovering from a surge of Omicron cases in the new year. The death rate remains high despite falling cases. And Democrats and Republicans eye new seats in Congress ahead of the midterm elections. North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper joins CBS News' Lana Zak with more on how his state is handling the pandemic and his views on a state supreme court case about redistricting.

He’s done a horrible job, his staff are all resigning. Businesses in NC closing in record numbers. Poor, reactive instead of proactive, democrat party leadership has got us to this point. Now they are all scurrying like rats to end mandates before midterms in a feeble attempt to save their jobs. No victory lap for any of them. Desantis makes this guy look as rotten as his teeth are. Luckily his disastrous term will soon be up and this embarrassment will be gone.

Questions...why have the disabled and elderly been ignored when it comes to receiving a extra Stimulus Check? This has not been addressed. We elderly people worked hard and put funds in the bucket for a pandemic like this. The young folk with children are being cared for...while the elderly and disabled are suffering in silence. Please answer as to why?

Change how we pass things in city's we need shorter systems in place to get things dne at a quicker pace when it's comes to issues. This includes schools, hospitals, small businesses, street repair, etc. We can do better
