This is an all-in-one washer dryer combo meaning it washes and dries automatically in a single machine with no need to transfer the load. The first all in one washer dryer combo was released 70 years ago in 1953 and they’re very common in Europe, but the top complaints of most combo units are that the clothes either take too long to dry or they don’t get dry enough. But if you are like me and your current machines are older and both are in need of replacing or you are shopping for a new set, then this combo unit should be considered because the price is similar to a new 2-piece washer dryer set except this has an advantage of being a single machine which is simpler and saves space. GE’s tagline for this combo unit is “1 machine that lets you wash and dry a large load of laundry in about 2 hours” so we’ll put that to the test soon, but let’s go over the other main features. Like most new laundry machines it comes with many pre-defined cycles but I’m a simple man so I almost exclusively used the normal cycle with cold water on my previous machines, but this GE has a new Eco Cool Cycle which I’m a big fan of as it saves maximum energy using a specially designed cold-water wash and efficient dry cycle that is supposedly comparable to a warm water cycle. Another feature I really love is the smart dispenser which allows you to put in enough detergent and fabric softener for 32 loads and the machine will automatically dispense the correct amount for each load so you don’t have to put it in each time you do laundry which is a huge time saver. The Profile series not only brings smart features and app notifications but it actually learns how you do laundry over time and tries to optimize it and will stay up to date with the latest software releases which improve the experience. Another large load I did which weighed 12.2 pounds it estimated 2 hours 7 minutes and it actually took 2 hours 15 minutes so the estimated time is pretty accurate but based on my experience it’ll take about 5-10 minutes longer than the estimate. I combined bed sheets with towels and clothes and put it on the delicate cycle and when it finished only the bedsheets were dry so I had to run the rest in the dryer but that answers another question: yes you can use this machine to do a wash-only or a dry-only cycle. But obviously the best thing about this machine is that it’s a large enough all in one for my laundry needs, and I don’t have to transfer the load. I’m satisfied with this GE Profile Combo to the point where the only downside I can think of is that since I use un-scented laundry detergent my clothes kind of have that brand new appliance smell to them which isn’t necessarily a bad smell just noticeably different but I’m assuming that will go away after a while or I can just get a scented detergent. Another downside for some people may be that you can’t really use dryer sheets in this unless you manually insert them before the dry cycle begins.

Had this for about a week now, honestly life changing! Completely agree with the fact that laundry is now not a big long chore day, we used to have to wait until the weekend to do laundry which then piles up and it ends up keeping us home on the weekend for a big chunk of the day to make sure we don't leave loads in the wash. Now we can just do a load every other day and not dread having to fold 3-4 loads at a time and it freed up our weekends!

We love ours. I was extremely skeptical because of some bad FAKE reviews dated before product was ever on the market. No special out let needed and no dryer vent needed and no dryer sheets or balls needed. You get a message when to clean the dryer vent. You get a message when to refill your liquid detergent. Luv luv luv this.

I recently bought this ge combo and i must say this review is honest and genuine. Love this machine. Only cons so far is the weight of the machine, at first the rubbery manufacturing smell and the blue microban ring gets dirty fast so must wipe it or run self clean cycle constantly. Other than BEST LAUNDRY UNIT EVER CREATED

Pretty cool! We used washer/dryer combos in the Airbnbs during our trip to Paris and London. The advantages (ease of use…) and drawbacks (not everything dried…) are what we found to be true with those units.

So this GE unit sounds like a huge improvement. I love the electrical (110v) and venting (NONE!) features!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. We are not in need of replacing our ~10 year old front loaders (which are working really well currently), but when we are, I’m going to give this a serious look! I think it’d be just about perfect.

I love this unit. Have done 21 wash cycles in the last 11 days and it's been flawless so far. The delivery guy also told me he hasn't done a return on one this far.

If this goes on sale for $2, 000 again I am definitely picking it up. The idea of not transferring loads and auto dispensing the detergent is genius!

Purchased the same unit over a month ago and so far have run 10+ loads through it. This is a game changer. We love it! Yes, takes longer then a separate washer and dryer, but you never have to switch out the load to the dryer, so that saves time. And it is more energy efficient and we are all about that. If you do more than 3 loads per day, this unit may be an issue. But think it through. Run a load in the morning, one at lunch, and one at dinner. Easy. Also, the extra space I have in my laundry room is a huge plus.

Andy, that is exactly what I thought when I looked at this stellar idea. I was looking for a Heat Pump type of Dryer, but I also need a more efficient front load washer (they usually rotated on the spin-dry about twice the speed of a top lad, Kudos to you GE! My dryer is dying and washer is piratically end of life, perfect timing. I need to shave about 4, 000KW/hr from my yearly use to go solar with little or no electrical requirements from the grid, so this machine and my heat Pump hot water heater should just about be there! No more throwing 5, 000 watts of heat outdoors along with my heat pump air envelope!

I love @ 10:32 the little "pat" on the machine's head you gave it saying "good work". 🤣

Man this would be a game changer in Boston and NYC where apartment are too small for 2 units. No more load transfer just wash, take what needs to be air dry and let the dryer function take over . Plus a king size comforter equal to several pairs of jeans

Thanks for making this video. I've been using LG's Combo Ventless Washer/Dryer for quite a few years now and its great to see another company improve on the technology. Honesty I had no idea another company had taken a stab at a Ventless Combo Unit. Any company that does seems to only make units that are well below 4 cubic feet capacity!

My he LG often takes 4-6 hours to wash and dry for most normal and large loads and while its still worth the efficiency savings and convenience it still can be a bit of a lifestyle adjustment. Really intrigued by wash and dry times you had that are closer to 2.5 hours!

Really hoping GE commits to this technology.

I am an Appliance Tech. I have a contract with GE to work on machines that are still under factory warranty (less than a year old).. I have only seen 2 of these so far. Cool technology. But what a nightmare it’s gonna be to diagnose and repair! Luckily for me I’ve yet to have to take one apart.. I’m dreading the day I have to actually repair one lol

I will say that this technology is smart. Barely uses any electricity compared to a traditional washer and dryer set up. Even though it runs for about 10 hours! Depending on the cycle selection it can take 2 hours to wash and dry then it can take 8 hours to dry out the machine with their Ultra Fresh Vent System. Which helps prevent that nasty mold (that builds up on the door gasket of most front load washers)… seems to work better than just leaving the door and detergent drawer open after a load

Heat pump combo unit is great for homes that are very tight on air leakage and are on a low energy budget.

you could have rambled how it became efficient which is its heat pump, the same device that Tesla uses for better efficiency for heating. One Appliance channel told me that he knows the wholesale price of this and there's plenty room for discounts in the future. Current price is a bit steep costing as much as two appliances.

I would want to have two just to fill the spacing. Plus you can get a lot of laundry done in a hurry with two of these bad boys.
