Coastal Camping & Loving The Dunes! Toyota Hilux Bogged But Smiling! Ep4

The week prior to filming this episode, my buddy and I were robbed... My laptop and memory cards were stolen, and my whole trip was ruined. What came next would be the pick me up I needed. I head to Cape Town where I met up with some of the Western Cape Overlanding content creators, for a much needed weekend get away, wild camping on the west coast, tackling the dunes the next day, and getting to recover plenty of vehicles! We would end up at Onder Water Boerekraal for another night of camping, but not better getting properly bogged in the Hilux, even resorting to the winch to get myself out! All it all it was loads of fun and great getting to see the Hilux stand on its own with the 80 series, FJ Cruiser and the Fortuners! What a blast!

Great trip! Tip: route a three-way switch from the winch into dash in the cab so you can control the line-in and line-out from the cab without the remote. Use a heavy gauge and fused wire. You can also install a winch power on/off switch while you are at it. It is much easier and more convenient to have the option to not use the remote.

Keep up your content! And getting robbed is never fun. I got robbed in Sarajevo once. They just left the fridge and some pots and pans. Luckily I had my camera with me. Nevertheless the rest of the trip was awesome despite just having 2 T-shirts, 1 jeans and 2 boxershorts left.
