It's pretty well-known by this point that the strip casinos are much farther apart than they look. It's a common first-time visitor's "mistake" to be, for example, outside of the Mirage, and say, "Oh look, we can see Bellagio from here. Let's just walk it instead of getting a ride." You don't realize you're looking at a solid mile.

"Hey guys, don't walk around vegas because of windows. Yeah, windows, that's why you shouldn't walk in vegas"

Walking into those huge Vegas hotels is like walking into another dimension. They’re their own worlds inside the building, HUGE 😂

as someone who has walked the entire vegas strip, i definitely think you SHOULD walk it. beat the traffic, take in the sights and sounds of what’s going on around you, and get some good exercise in without it feeling like a workout

Hey all, 20-year Las Vegas veteran here and ex limo/ taxi driver .. if you're doing the tourist thing on the strip, best thing to do is STAY PARKED, Don't take a Cab !
The city buses run every 15 minutes on the strip .They stop in front of every casino .. you can get a 24-hour pass for only $8, or a 3-day pass for $20 ..Party on and VIVA LAS VEGAS !!

I love walking the strip. It’s a lot of fun. You get to see some cool lights and some amazing sights.

Yep...back in June of 1991, when I first moved here, we parked at Excalibur's. Then later when we were outside the front of Excalibur's, I saw Circus Circus. And it did look close. So we decided to walk it. It did look closer as we kept walking & we did finally reach it. It took at least 2 or more hours of continous walking at 11 pm at night BUT the temp had cooled down to 110 degrees. It was 118 degrees during the heat of the day. We rested before walking back to the car...I have NEVER SINCE walked anywhere in Vegas again that "looked" close.

Walking the Vegas strip is a lot more fun than the gambling. The sights and shops are wonderful and truly a beautiful night time experience. Plan for a long walk and you're fine. There is always a taxi if you get tired to take you back.

New York, New York does the opposite… they use multiple windows per room to make the skyscrapers appear larger and further away than they are

After seeing the Excalibur--I prefer the illusion hotels. If you put all the individual windows it looks crazy.

This explains so much about my first trip to Vegas as a kid. I almost got heat stroke and my brother’s converse started to melt from the asphalt. Little poop wanted a cup from EVERY casino on the strip and my Dad said sure! Let’s WALK IT. In summer. In 107 degree heat.

Some very very very kind bartender took one look at me when we walked in somewhere and got me a HUGE thing of water because apparently my little 10 year old face was red 🥵

My Mom said later they should have known I was dying because I was quiet. I’m never quiet!

We walked around the Strip. It wasn’t bad. But we’re from the Country, so walking is kinda what we do! 😉 And no, little strolls around the central areas is fine, but if you try walking any real distance, it is NOT pedestrian-friendly.

I went from a completely sedentary lifestyle to walking 12 miles over like two days because of this (my pedometer claimed like 34k steps by the time we left Vegas). I walked from the Luxor to Caesar’s Palace and all around the interiors of both and back. If you were in Vegas a couple years ago in mid June and saw a lady broken down in front of the Bellagio weeping while her husband begged her to get up, hi that might have been me suffering for my many poor decisions in my life.

Also they hide the fact that hotels are actually long, so you see only the most expensive rooms facing The Strip. If you book the cheapest, or middle prized room, you will probably end up facing a parking lot or a highway the opposite side of the Strip. Be careful when booking in those hotels.

The way the windows look aren't what makes you feel uncomfortable. It's the cost of the rooms that make you feel uncomfortable!

As Americans, it makes complete sense that we can’t even walk a mile without a cab ride LMAO
