Kirby 64 The Crystal Shards Was BAD...or was it? (Review)

Kirby 64 The Crystal Shards was released for the Nintendo 64 back in the day, and was really mixed on it's release, some called it bad, others have fond memories of this game by HAL. Some even call it Kirby Dreamland 4 So which one is it? Let's look at Kirby 64 in 2020 all these years later.

The only problem that I've had with this game was when I was little. I absolutely could not figure out how to solve the Block Puzzle with the food that Adeiline gives a clue for in Neo Star. It prevented me from finishing the game entirely.

I didn't actually finish it until over a decade later.

If kirby 64 gets a remake, it should be titled Kirby: Shard Searchers, 2 player coop with meta knight, who helps kirby out because why not, besides there will be a meta knight only mode called Meta knight, hunt for the crystal shards!

I remember playing this when I was about 5. I didn't face the final boss but I did come close til I had to give it back to my older cousin. I had to 100% it.

Level six ripple star is easily my favorite level in the game. You land far away from the fairy’s castle where dark matters influence hasn’t reached but when you approach the castle it’s completely over taken and you cant enter but waddle dee guilds you to a well leading down into that catacombs. You make you way through but a rock slide blocks the path cutting you off only for king deedeede to come and clear the way again. Adeline give you and invisibility candy to help you when you final enter the castle, which only happened because of each of your friends. (it also the last time you see them before miracle matter) you lift up into the castle and solo fight your way up every higher until you see the dark clouds above you housing miracle matter as you make your way up to him

See i make it sound dramatic but the whole level tells a story of kirbys time on the planet. The end level minigame of 6-2 takes place in the same room as the start of 6-3 to the point where you are on the same platform. And each level does it to a degree the other not as strong as level 6 but in level 3 you fallow a river down to the beach and after heading into deep waters you head below the surface into an underwater cave where you face arco.

I just love 64 im happy you could enjoy the game even if not to the same level i do

So, to sum up, this is why the powerup combos from Kirby 64 wasn't used again, and instead we get the Squeak Squad one in Star Allies.

I remember back in 6th grade my parents had recently split up so money was really tight for awhile, had to sell a lot of stuff to pay for power and all that. I had gotten this game from my aunt for Christmas that year and it was one of 6 games I had for the system along with Ocarina Of Time, Majora's Mask, DK 64, Star Fox 64 and Super Mario 64.. Needless to say I played the hell out of all of them I have a lot of fond memories with it because it got me through a really rough time.

11:43 WAIT WHAT?? That's how you get that!? I always spent forever using that same power up, trying to chain combo the jump of the stone bird with Kirby's jump in order to fly up just barely high enough and eventually (after like an hour) get it. I had no idea that little stone hamster could climb the walls like that. (I never had was able to play the Dreamland game they were actually from).

Bomberman 64 also made you 100% it to get the full ending, with a pretty awesome plot twist on top. Diddy Kong Racing also did that with how you'd get to Future Fun Land.

It's funny how he's kind of the only one who doesn't really like the game didn't even want to do the final boss either you probably wouldn't get it cuz it's not a Kirby feeling like most of us he didn't even know who whispy woods was
