Here's a juicy substitution for ii-V-I in C major, using FACGCE tuning!
Instead of Dm7, I use D dominant 9 (D F# A C E), then instead of G7, I use E-flat major (Eb G Bb) over D-flat major (Db F Ab) — which forms Db major 6/9 with #11. Then C major 9 (C E G B D) is voiced as a full barre across all six strings at the 7th fret. FACGCE is a classic tuning for songs by the band American Football.
