That was an absolute cheapshot. Randall Delgado had to be thrown out. Someone not as level-headed as Andrew McCutchen might have charged the mound.

lol delgado didn't even do the ceremonial walk around the mound and look upset with himself routine, he just immediately starts walking toward the dugout

Getting hit square in the back is the worst feeling ever. Nothing like taking it in the shoulder.

Andrew McCutchen was pissed and I don't blame him!!!!

Definitely on purpose. Even announcers aren't convinced otherwise.

McCutchen handled that with a lot of class

See, I'm the type of guy who would charge the mound with the bat and try to hit him over the head with it. But that's why I'm not a pro player... that and other reasons.

Anyone thinking it doesn't hurt that much.. I got hit square in the back in LITTLE LEAGUE. The pitch was what, 60 MPH at most? That's enough to knock the wind out of you. I can't imagine what it's like taking a 90+ MPG fastball to the back.

your down 5-1 in the 9th inning runners on 2nd and 3rd and you plunk him seriously

You could totally tell he meant that too. He started walking off the mound before he even got tossed

Goldschmidt was hit by accident. you can tell it was not even intentional, just up and in.

If anyone is curious, the music playing here is "Listen to the Music" by the Doobie Brothers. Great tune! Also, I agree that what Delgado did here was completely uncalled for.

The Pirates finished the season 1 game behind the Cardinals for the NL central crown. In the 14 game stretch w/o Cutch after this game, they went 5-9.

Imagine what they would have done with McCutchen in the lineup.

Should have shown the entire at-bat! Two pitches before, Randall Delgado threw a brushback pitch also at 95 mph.

It hurts really bad getting hit with 20-60 mph ball imagine a 95 mph fastball right to the back

Even Goldschmidt's face is like "oh man, please not this" after Cutch gets hit.

Goldschmidt was so pissed, he knew that he was hit unintentionally.
