Nicolai Højgaards final round winning highlights from the 2023 DP World Tour Championship.

The DP World Tour returns to Jumeirah Golf Estates this week for the 15th edition of the DP World Tour Championship as the top 50 on the Race to Dubai compete in the season-ending Rolex Series finale. Rory McIlroy’s fifth Race to Dubai title is already secured coming into the week, but the Northern Irishman is bidding to close out his season by winning the DP World Tour Championship for a third time and first since 2015. The World Number Two has won twice this season in nine starts and claimed a further five top tens. Jon Rahm comes into the week looking to successfully defend his title. He’s managed subsequent top tens on the DP World Tour in his last two starts at the BMW PGA Championship and acciona Open de España presented by Madrid. The Spaniard arrives in Dubai with the chance to claim a record-extending fourth DP World Tour Championship and sixth Rolex Series title. Adrian Meronk will also fancy his chances this week. The Pole heads into the final event of the DP World Tour campaign as the only player to have won three titles this season. He’s also hopeful of grabbing exemptions into THE PLAYERS Championship and the Charles Schwab Challenge in 2024. Others to look out for are Min Woo Lee, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tommy Fleetwood and Viktor Hovland.

Nicolai and his brother Rasmus caught my attention a couple years ago. At the time Rasmus was having more success than Nicolai, but I liked Nicolai’s swing better. Something in the simplicity of his backswing and position at the top it looks like there’s no way he could hit it offline. Not to mention he’s got as much power as anyone on tour. I expected to see him winning soon, so this is not so much a surprise as it is manifest destiny. Now hire a good publicist and work on your post round interviews, Nicolai. You’re going to be doing a lot of them going forward.

Nobody bothered to present Nikolaj with the the winning trophy, he had to pick it up himself when the ceremony had finished, Awkward.

And Rasmus didn't do too bad either. A very respectable 11th place finish.

Disco music and no respectful silence at the 18th green?? What are golf tournaments turning in to? The lad did brilliantly to shut all that out and play wonderfully .... well done!!

Help me if I'm wrong here... at exactly 7min he lines up his putt with the putter touching the green. My understanding is that per Rule 10-2B(2), you can use your club or a part of your body to touch the ground on an intended line of play, but if you (or your caddie) sets an object down as a guide, it’s a two stroke penalty. I line up the line on my ball with my intended line by suspending my putter above the ground at all times to avoid falling foul of this rule. He has clearly set an object (his putter) down as an alignment guide...

I wonder if he'll be coming to the PGA tour or stay on the DP tour?

Wtf is wrong with European golf ? We celebrate our best young players by giving them a card to go and play elsewhere. The only thing worse than this is to be forced to listen to the suck-up Sky sports commentary team saying what a wonderful move this was.

Thank you Nicolai for shutting up Sky Sports and their McIlroy love in.

I hope his older Ryder Cup team mates gave him a big pat on the back later on in the locker room - hopefully he'll stay hot for Europe in the future!
