A couple of days ago my friend @Italiansupercarvideo and I managed to record the new Maserati MC20 GT2 covering some kilometers at Monza Circuit during a test day organized by Kateyama.

As you can spot the car was a development mule, with many details and minor elements which will improve for the final customer version. This MC20 is under development in order to be raced in SRO’s new GT2 class (Fanatec GT2 European Series), which aims to reduce aero and increases power over the GT3 class, making cars more accessible for drivers with less experience. The GT2 cars would mainly focus on having a powerful engine with 640-700hp, which would be more powerful than restricted GT3 engine, while having low downforce more similar to the GT4 category.

The MC20 GT2 will be unveiled at the end of next June during the Spa 24h weekend.

Sounds pretty good for a V6 Turbo.
I'm glad to see a new car added to the GT2 series.

Welcome back Maserati into the GT Motorsports.

Somehow this V6 twin turbo sounds better & louder than 296 GT3

So happy to see Maserati getting back into motorsports. This thing looks really good and sounds amazing. Always been a fan of Il Tridente.

I hope to see a gt3 version in the near future, that vs the 296, vs the mustang, vs the new zo6 gt3.... Woo

You can almost hear the 2015 Ford gt sound with this car. I wish they would bring it back

Starting to love GT2 more than GT3, the high power low aero philosophy is making some great cars

This car makes me think of what the Soldat Meltfire from RR6 would look like if it had a successor in 2023

It's no MC12 GT1 but still a fantastic machine. Seeing a modern Maserati race car is an absolute pleasure.

Man the gt2 class is really shaping up to be one of the most interesting GT lineups in recent history. Kind of gives me FIA gt1 vibes. If they can find a way to fill out the grid and get like 20 or so cars racing, along with the mercedes gt2 and the ferrari gt2 I feel like we'd have a complete series. For a while it was feeling very sparse and unpopulated. But I gotta say a full grid of brabhams, porsche, lambo, ferrari, audi, merc, KTM and maserati would be epic. Its a real shame the lotus gt2 seems to have gone under.

The sound reminds me off the Ford GTE a little
