Thanks to the Beatles and the culture back then I tried LSD for the first time in 1970. Before that I felt like there was a party going on that I was not invited to. Afterwards I understood the power of LSD and I did it many times. After two years I never touched it again because I just wanted to start living my life without artificial stimulants. No permanent harm (I think!) and I still have some strong memories, some great, some a little scary but not too bad. YMMV.

I love how in one Harrison interview here on YouTube, he says you only need it once to which the interviewer said so you only took it once? Oh no, I did it hundreds of times!

We can perhaps argue over what is on the list and what isn't but your analysis is spot one.... more of your insightful opinions on the drivers behind the music please

I'd politely argue, "Strawberry Fields".

"It's All Too Much" from Yellow Submarine. BTW: "Yellow Submarine" seems rather "trippy" also.

Good analysis of their music. I experimented with LSD and magic mushrooms when I was much, much younger and I found the mushrooms to be more enlightening/entertaining. Usually the day after I came down from acid I would just laugh at the ridiculous thoughts I had conjured up. One thing both drugs did for me was show me how a little change in the brain's chemistry can have a profound effect and led me to understand how easily a minute shift could cause common mental illnesses.

I’m mentioning It’s All Too Much as the most psychedelic track from The Beatles
With the Hammond Organ guiding the music through trippy studio sounds where it’s pure psychedelic chaos

Excellent video. Tomorrow Never Knows still blows me away.

I remember June 1, 1967 when I walked all the way to Woolworths in Valley Fair in San Jose, California to buy my copy of Sgt. Pepper. As I walked home I opened up the package and when I saw the centerfold spread, the FIRST thing I noticed was that Paul and Ringo's eyes were obviously dilated and red. They were on acid during the photo shoot lol! I smiled and enjoyed that wonderful moment of solidarity with the group that changed my life forever. Ten days later, June 10, 1967, I had my most beautiful LSD trip ever and I remember every detail of it throughout that gorgeous California spring day. Colorful, full of Sgt. Pepper music, profound feelings of depth and texture. That might be the one day of my life I would most like to re-live if I had to choose.

As my late granny once said " I am the Walrus? They must have been drugs when they wrote that".

Another cracking video - thanks. Re: Walrus - I'm forever grateful to the late Ian McDonald for this... "Yet, as the lyric progressed, it grew more pointed, rising above the level of a schoolboy nose-thumb to embrace his festering resentment of the British establishment as a whole." McDonald then goes on to explain it in further detail. I see it as one of Lennon's most personal and bitter lyrics.

Spiking someone's drink with acid *without telling them* is an incredibly stupid (and potentially dangerous) thing to do.

My fave period of the Beatles but equally my fave period of the Mothers. Counter balance to the hippy trippy bollocks

The open all the doors” line also alludes to their experiences in an elevator on their first trip.
