Thank you Jason for relaying this information. In dealing with all my own structural problems and nonetheless working within my own peculiar set of parameters, it is in the feeling and listening to what my body is telling me that I structure my workouts. You keep things very real and I appreciate that.

I've only just discovered your channel, it's fantastic so I wanted to say a big thank you. I train 3 times a week weights and 2 to 3 times a week running (I struggle to do running and weights during the same day mainly due to time but also I have a pretty physical job and I'm nearly 44 yrs old and don't really want to burn myself out) I have a few serious medical conditions (acute pancreatitis and ulcerative colitis) my specialist advised I try to get a fighters physique rather than a bodybuilders. I can't really take many supplements such as bcaa's or creatine etc, it's mainly low fat protein shakes and chicken, rice, sweet potatoes, greens salads and low fat muesli with skimmed milk and honey. I don't eat any junk food etc. I've lost around 3 stone in the last 4 months or so since I last visited my specialist, but I haven't made a great deal of musculature gains ( or Strength gains for that matter 😂) as I was mainly doing low reps to maintain what strength I have while I built up my running distances and tried to shed the weight. After watching some of your vids I think I'm going to break it up a bit and incorporate some high reps / failure reps sessions into my training and maybe cut out a little of the rice. So I just wanted to say thanks for the great advice and I look forward to catching up on all your other videos 👍🏻

Really really interesting. I've always waited until I'm fully recovered. Will definitely try training more often.

Great video....in particular I notice that the closer to 1 rep max I go that the more relevant things like rest and recovery become. Training close to 1 rep max can produce great gains but it can also wreck you, especially from a nervous system point of view. An example of this would be intense fatigue post workout, requiring a quick snooze just after working out. While on the other hand lower intensity seems to open up the doors to all sorts of possibilities from the point of view of reps, sets and frequency. So Jason you really hit the nail on the head regarding feeling your body and adapting a workout accordingly. For example, I train chest once a week and legs twice, for the very same reasons as you quote in the video. Great vids ..keep them up and hope you get more subscribers as we need more of these vids out there which fill in the missing pieces in the training jig saw puzzle!

Thanks for this vid.
The part about taking too much time between workouts, around 2 days after full recovery, feeling weaker like the muscle have regressed . This really resonates with me. Can you do a more in depth vid about this effect?
