Her ability to stay right in the pocket even through all the tempo changes, that Sting is known for, was absolutely amazing.

Thanks for the great reaction and comments, Jeff! So, based on your comments I'm assuming you kind of liked this...LOL YOYOKA said this is the hardest song she has ever had to learn, which means it's simply beyond the reach of the average drummer....lol Normally, she can listen to a song 2-3 times and play it. For more difficult songs it takes her 5 listens, but this one took her about 5 weeks (not to just learn, but to learn to perfection). Of course, she is so modest, she left out the part that she was attending school, practicing new songs for and performing at multiple gigs, and recording sessions, you know routine stuff. To put this in perspective, not for you, but others, Nandi Bushnell, who is an accomplished drummer of the same age as YOYOKA, posted that her most difficult song took her 3 months. The bar keeps getting higher, yet YOYOKA just hurdles it like an Olympic champion. A real rock Goddess! It's funny you said her time is so good, not because it isn't, but because of something she said to Rob Yule and I when she performed at the Japanese Music Festival in Las Vegas earlier this year. Rob flew down from Canada specifically to see YOYOKA at the Festival, and stayed with me. But we were talking to her and during the conversation we mentioned that she had several nicknames, She asked "What nicknames do I have?". So we mentioned a few of them, "The Hokkaido Hammer" and "The Human Metronome", among others. Then she says "Yeah, my timing is not that good." Rob and I just looked at each other and laughed hilariously. Then we told her, her timing is as close to perfect as you can get! So modest and so funny! About your various comments of what she brings to the song, her fans have dubbed that "The YOYOKA Effect" and when she does covers, she plays without shoes in what her fans call her "Magic Socks". What a gifted musician and all around wonderful human being! Thanks again!

I've been following Yoyoka (and I assume many of us have) for a long time now and THIS is how you level up. Not to discount anything else she has played to perfection over her young years so far, but she is now able to play Vinnie without even showboating? This takes skill and precision that many drummers twice her age wished they had. I really hope she has a great career as a drummer, whether it be on tour with an awesome band, or in the studios as a session player. She was born to be behind a kit!

A few years ago, I thought she was amazing for her age. Now I’m just a huge fan of this person‘s drumming skills. She’s so in the groove and so talented. Go Yoyoka!!

I don't hear anyone with better time than her. She had incredible time when she was seven years old.

Yoyoka such a joy to watch and listen - one of my favorite covers!!! Awesome, I know she said this was the hardest song to learn so far, but you wouldn’t know it. She plays with such confidence and makes it look so easy! Thanks for reacting, always love your comments and critique.

I hope someone sends that to Sting! I can't help but think he'd really appreciate such skill, such obvious talent, from someone so young. Awesome!🙂🌸

She turns 14 in October, she had pro level skills at 9 when she covered Peter Gabriel's steam

Her Tower of Power cover is not to be missed!

Her live performance of Seven Days at the Drum Fantasy Camp is a must see. The conditions were far from perfect - no rehearsal, not her drum kit, other (good) musicians not really familiar with the song, recording only with the iPad...
But her playing was just beautiful. One of the best I've seen lately, from anyone.

Yoyoka is simply fantastic! Incredible timing! The world is her oyster and she will be one of the VERY best drummers one day! I understand, a couple of years ago, she was rated as one of the too 500 drummers in the WORLD!! She's moved up since then!!! 👏👏❤️

No one seems to have mentioned that this is a particularly difficult time signature. Well done.

It's so exciting to see her play this kind of music that demands dynamic changes! I've heard her play LOUD.

I've been following her for about 3 years now, and at one point in time she produced a video talking about her recording procedures. If I'm not mistaken, she mic's her kit herself...

Amazing is quite the understatement. I have been trying to learn how to play that well for a few decades and she makes me feel like a hack.I will keep working at it and I am sure we will hear much more from that young lady.Such a genuine talent.Your observations about touch and accent are pretty spot on, too.

Out of all the great and complex covers Yoyoka has done, this is my favorite. Also, Jeff I also love how you cover Yoyoka's songs; explaining the difficult and the interesting things she does and by showing true admiration, we all feel, for this very gifted but obviously hard working drummer.

Yoyoka is a drumming force to be reckoned with! She is a sensation. This is a very complex drum part and she nailed it like a seasoned pro with 30 years of playing experience. I watched in total shock and amazement as she caught every little nuance in that song. What a great feel on the hi hats. Your comments were spot on, Jeff. Thanks for posting.

Very good reactkon! I have listened to this cover by Yoyoka 50+ times but you managed to add to my listening enjoyment. She really has the confidence to play with authority. Love your channel.

Thank you for your good comments and above all do not hesitate to share other videos of Yoyoka, she surpasses herself every time and raises the bar very, very high. Yoyoka is a sacred drum monster.
