As someone who grew up primarily having secondhand things, it's always weird to me when people only think of goodwill when they say the word thrift, have they never been to an antique shop? A yard sale? An estate sale? The flea market? THEIR COUSINS HOUSE WHO WAS GETTING RID OF HER OLD CLOTHES???

My Facebook market place thinks it’s in NYC or LA I guess because these people are charging way too much for used items😂

Sometimes I feel like I’m stealing when I’m buying off of Facebook marketplace because the items are, well, a steal!

Also hot take, sometimes I’m okay with spending as much on a used piece as I would on something new because used is more consistent with my values!!!!

eBay notifications keep me in my faves, even if it takes a while. It’s not like my style changes 😂

"consume less", I wish more people inhabited this mindset.

My struggle as a parent of a child with special needs is finding what he needs to wear second hand. I can get it made on shien. So thats where I go.

Unfortunately that’s not possible for so many of us. I have 1 thrift store a Goodwill and a Value Village in the area and that’s it. My size is also very hard to find secondhand, especially in fabrics that are not polyester since I can’t wear anything with polyester.

fr Goodwill & Redracks be as bad as upscale consignment these days. They charge more than SHEIN for SHEIN clothing. I have been boycotting them for a while

Idk if its in america. But in europe there is vinted. A reselling platform for clothing. So that you can sell and buy secondhand clothing. Its really easy and can help people who dont have the means to go out and do it.

You can also trade clothes with other people

Or literally the curb. I cannot tell you how much furniture and items people have left on the side of the curb for people to just take.
Got a love seat and armchair completly for free. Just know what your looking for when snagging stuff. And if ur not sure if it is free. Doesnt hurt to knock on the door and ask. Knowing how to clean and inspect furniture will save you so much money ya'll

I just don't want to buy anything from goodwill because I worked for a family and they had bed bugs and they donated all their stuff to Goodwill I'm like oh hell no

Goodwill sucks imo. Overpriced and make huge profits. I'll go local any day.

Are there any online thrift store(my fb marketplace never has my size clothes, and hubby has the car 98% of the time)
