In the summer of 2012, one of my friends introduced me to Deus Ex: Human Revolution. He said it would get me to think about what it means to be human, and that's certainly what it did. Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a thematic masterpiece.

Taking place in the year 2027, Deus Ex: Human Revolution portrays a world obsessed with the advancement of human potential through augmentation. Adam Jensen, as the protagonist, becomes augmented due to an unexpected tragedy, even though he never asked for it. The player can choose to use augmentations to take life or spare it as they travel to several locations attempting to unravel a corporate conspiracy and track down someone who was once dear to Adam. Adam Jensen takes the player on a personal journey of discovery as he comes to terms with himself as an augmented individual and rediscovers his humanity.

Playing this game again, Hearing Sarif say, "Be like you" and him pausing, trying to change his wording, took me aback on how he ended up almost spilling the beans on Megan's research. Pretty subtle and cool foreshadowing.

'Stephen Shellen is a Canadian actor who voices David Sarif in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, his videogame voice-over debut. He is known for his supporting roles in the films The Bodyguard and A River Runs Through It.

For Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Shellen was replaced by actor Rick Miller.

Following Human Revolution's release, Shellen became paranoid of being a "targeted individual". He now goes by the pseudonym of "Stephen Shellenberger" and continues to be mentally volatile.'

I can't get over the fact, that Jensen never even discusses his "life saving operation" with Sarif in the game... that man ... I mean, if you read all the mails in the LIMB-clinic for example, Sarif ORDERED to cut off two healthy legs and one healthy arm of Jensen, because HIS WORKING CONTRACT ALLOWED HIM TO.... that fact alone just makes me so mad! :D (even more, when you find Sarifs mail to the lawyer (?) at Sarif Industries...)
It'd be cool if the game would respond to information you find in the game and added dialogue options or sth. I know... plenty of work to programm... just sayin.. I'd have loved to have more reactions of Jensen on information he finds - either about himself or about the Picus "communication controls" or such things... - I love both Deus Ex with Adam. Still have to play the JC Denton ones though :)
