Kickstarter is broken and needs fixing. It's a platform that is biased towards creators with very little in terms of protection for backers, and "creators" know this. The solution is simple, Kickstarter should only get their commissions when projects are delivered to backers, then they've some skin in the game when things start to go wrong.
