Obito in my eyes was just a incomplete madara.I think its partially the reason madara chose him. He originally was a man who loved and cared for his comrades more than anything but then lost a highly important comrade to him. Quite frankly im a little surprised he didn't become a indra "reincarnation"

Edo Madara was already capable of hanging along with the likes of Ten Tails Obito who fought Naruto, then he came back to full power, absorbed Hashirama's Sage Mode (IDK how significant that was), got one eye, absorbed the stronger ten tails, absorbed the God Tree, got a dual Rinnegan and then rocked a 3-eye loadout...

It's safe to say if he was allowed to live longer instead of being retconned out, he'd get a little too OP just via experience.
