The irony that's never lost on me is the fact that games like this due to their art style /aesthetic were hated at the time (mostly in the US) and are now loved and prized because of the stylized graphics holding up so much better than games that tried to go for realism. It's a lot like that time between people hating 2D and Loving it again. Attitudes shift so quickly, what once was considered awful and old is now beloved and considered ahead of it's time.

During the PS1's heyday over here in the Philippines, 99% of PS1 games were yo-ho-ho'd, and we got games from Japan and the Western markets. I owned and played this game, and loved it... but I could never get to complete that darned Rhythm Attack.

Team Reptile would be the perfect developer to bring this back!

Fun fact: Mia and Oleg (and maybe Ramos) are guest characters from Vs. I guess Polygon Magic liked those character enough to keep them around.
Vs. is also a to Fighters' Impact, which has a more experimental take on fighting styles.
Shaolin / Lord of Fist has an amazing story mode that chronologizes your characters life as you get older, stronger, and learn new techniques. It also has 8-player multitap versus mode, which is the only PS1 game I can think of that does that.
Regardless, all Polygon Magic games consistently have banger OSTs.

Actually, I think that the cell shaded models are made to replicate those found in Dance Dance Revolution, especially the ones used in Dance Dance Revolution 5th Mix. While the designs themselves take heavy (and i mean, instantly noticeable) inspiration from the works of GOLI MATSUMOTO, an artist and main character designer behind Beatmania IIDX (to this day)

Oh geez, this game looks rad! It's unfortunate that it remained obscure and whatnot, but thank you for making a video about it!

Love the aesthetic for this game, wish a sequel would've existed because it would've been sick

I'm surprised there was no repercussions for this game having literal Chun-Li in it

This, bust a groove and jet set radio have such a look that I wish would comeback …. Newer games don’t step out the box when it comes to style

I remember seeing this played on Friday night fisticuffs and immediately wanted to play this so badly.

I never imagined that the same ones that made effing GALERIANS, a edgy paranormal intense game of a kid who blows everyone head when he got a headache did this game. Very interesting

When you said ''fighting game'' and ''rhythm'' just made me think of Bust a Groove.
I love the designs these characters have though.

The fact that this game literally just has like b-girl Chun li is probably the reason I'll play it

Combos are basically forcing your opponent sit there and watch you play a rhythm game anyway
