I hate when people say "Oh my God, I'm SO OCD!" Because it's a real thing and it's not something that everyone goes through from time to time.

My friend always says she has “ocd” whenever she cleans her desk and she tells everyone it means “obsessive cleaning disorder” I really hate it and think it’s really offensive. Whenever I tell her what ocd really is, she doesn’t listen to me.

Having OCD is awful. I remember always feeling The need to have clean hands as a child. I washed my hands almost 40 times a day and they became bloody and raw. It took over a year to help me cope with this thing that i obsessed over. Another one i had was to make sure the toaster was unplugged and the stove was off because i didn’t want the house to catch on fire. The ocd made my anxiety worse.

I just hate when ppl say "Omg I'm so ocd" when most they do is they like their room to be clean, or everything to be tidy. Maybe they are perfectionist, but most the time they aren't.

6. OCD is not just "I will cry if my clothes aren't organized and my folders are color coded!" no. It comes with thinking you've run a little kid over with your truck, wanting to tear your fingers off because you didn't count the steps on the staircase correctly. In freshman year there was a sharp edge on the corner of my desk, and whenever I messed anything up, I would get so frustrated and cut myself on it. Not even like self harm, but anywhere I could get blood out. It's not fun, it comes with intrusive thoughts about people you hold dear. Stop saying it's just about organization.

“It’s like Being haunted but by the voices in your head” is the most accurate way of describing OCD Ive ever heard

I remember at age 5 everyone in my class felt safe in the world and I just couldn't trust it. It's like a tiny voice in your head telling you, "Something bad will happen" if you don't do the tasks you're a now stuck on.

I hate it when people think that I don’t have OCD just because I’m not a clean freak. Everyone’s OCD is different.

Although this is a good video, I feel like you missed a huge opportunity explaining more about the different ways OCD can manifest. My OCD has gradually gotten worse and has gotten to the point where the symptoms are (psycho)somatic yet I never hear anyone talk about this.

I’d just like to say Thankyou for this video. I am a fellow person with OCD and I will tell you I am not a germaphobe haha! Sometimes my family will question weather I have OCD since they don’t know the facts and it’s hard. My OCD is actually based around numbers and words. I am obsessed with the number seven. Like I have to find words and sentences that consists of sevens somehow (ie. seven letters seven words etc.) I also have to touch things an even amount of times too. Even when I type on my phone I do. I love this video cause you clarify that OCD is more than just cleaning.

OCD is a form of Anxiety, which I share along with BiPolar 2 Depression, as well as with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. (I'm a piece of work, aren't I :) )
I struggle with OCD most of the time. My disorder manifests in the form of arranging things within the household (though I have been known to straighten a picture or two in other's homes, or even straighten an object on a coffee table or whatnot)
(Now in my home) Oop, those two chairs aren't the exact distance apart, plus the one turns inward more than the other... MUST remediate that situation, pronto! Move the chairs sightly, then stand back to view them. No, now that one is a little off center! Then back and forth, no matter the time I'm wasting, until the placement feels "RIGHT".
I am on all sorts of meds, but this still is a daily struggle with knick-knacks and, and well, everyhing. It is just SO time consuming, tiring, tear inducingly difficult to get everything exactly "perfect" to my mind.
And you hear all the time someone say, "Oh, I am so OCD!" when they clearly aren't, not to mention the fun fact that when they say this, they are actually saying, "Oh, I am so Obsessive Compulsive Disorder!" HAHAAA, the joke's on them, right there. 😉
PS I have now edited this post 6 times. I hope this is the last. Nope, up to 7. Now, THIS will surely be the last time, right? Fingers crossed.
