As an owner of a 16 2021 Bambi I would say the only upgrades worth the price are the inverter (I had a 1000 watt one put into mine), the stove hood and the rear bumper for extra storage. And go solar with the new Lithium Battle Born batteries as well if you want to go longer boondocking. If you want to be a big baller in a small camper, sure go with the Caravel if price and GVMR is not a problem. If you want something you can easily tow, the Bambi is awesome and handles well on the road. Either way, for a couple or a small family, both are a great choice for getting away.

Thank you! This was more informative than some dealers that I'm visiting. I wish you would do an updated one to see if it changed with the new models I'm looking at.

I like the Caravel the best. Ducted air conditioning is so much better!

Thank you for doing this video! I love that you live an airstream today. It's so much more interesting to have you do the videos than a sales guy. thanks again!

Stone guards should be standard on all of them for the $$

Very helpful, thanks. Comparing the many models is its own chore, but your video takes one one step closer to understanding.

The inverter is awesome for a full timer! and the wrap around windows in the bedroom are a huge bonus in my opinion. I would think the air conditioning would be huge as well. That all is enough to convince me to want the caravel more. I hate the linoleum color but I think that can be changed?

When looking at a small package upgrades are always worth it.

Love the sliding blackout curtains in the trailers that are connected via top and bottom tracks, rather than the pull-down roller style. Those roller shades can be a bit finicky and do eventually wear out. Wish the sliding curtains were available in class B motor homes.

Thanks U2. Great job explaining the features of both. I'm looking to tow one of these behind my new Rivian R1T. Continued success in the new 2022 year.

We are looking at the 20' Caravel -- 2 Adults and 2 dogs for extended trips (3-4 months). ;)

The Bambi is too much like what we already have but with an Airstream logo. Not luxurious enough. LOL

Great teamwork and review!

You’ve made it to my rig! Or at least a successor to it - we have a 2018 16’ Sport which is basically the 2021 Bambi with leather seats and the microwave is mounted under the upper kitchen cabinet, which gives a full second drawer for storage. I have been puzzled as to why Airstream put the microwave in the cabinet when the space that was freed up was windowless, so it doesn’t make it that much more open feeling, IMO.

Between the two similar options you just toured I’d still take the Bambi over the Caravel, mostly because of the the lower weight and the gas range in the Caravel is a space waster. The Dometic cooktop in the Bambi sits flush on the counter, which makes for the only counter space in the kitchen. The gas grates, while lovely, take that away.

The little inconveniences like the hand crank jack have never been an issue for us. I do wish the back window was larger for more cross breeze, but other Sport owners we’ve known have had the back exit window modified to be both an exit and full screen, which would be great. The one thing I wish we had was the rock guard in front, but that does add tongue weight, so I’m not sure if our SUV TV could handle it.

Not being full timers the lack of inverter doesn’t bother us, but we do bring generators when Boondocking so that hasn’t been an issue for us. We run them for an hour or so in the morning to recharge the lead acid battery and at the same time we use any AC appliances. We do have a 90w Zamp portable solar panel (prewired) that keeps us topped off during the day for pump, fridge (Dometic 2-way w/propane) and USB use.

Compared to your Interstate I prefer the combined black/grey tank in a small rig - really maximizes space!

Always happy to watch a new vid from you. I was thinking if it would be possible in your own rig to elevate the rear couch to create more storage underneath ??? I dont see you in these 2 small trailers because of the size of the kitchen, really too tiny for Chris's skills.
Wish you a good day friends
