In a hostage situation you always try to talk the person into giving up not just kick the door in scaring the crap out of the lunatic with a gun pointed at a victims head, that was just plain out stupid and they had SWAT on the way, they should've been trying to talk to him and try to calm him down till SWAT got there, these cops weren't trained for hostage situations
