Neckbands are BETTER than True Wireless Earbuds: It's not even close...

Consumers are being pushed to Bluetooth audio, as phones ditch the headphone jack. The popular trend is true wireless. It's kind of futuristic to cut the cord, but is it really better? It is not. There's not a single criteria we can point to where true wireless earbuds are better than a neckband solution, other than "they look nifty". Allow me to rant into your ear holes for a minute...

Neckbands are easily the most underrated of any bluetooth earbud or headphones. Many awesome options but true wireless are all the rage right now.

When im on the subway I like how discreet my wf-1000 xm3's are. I enjoy the noise cancellation when on the many buses and trains. My favorite part and why I don't do neckbands is because of the hair products and etc that I use, (plus I have African American hair), constantly get all over normal headphones especially over ears and neck bands. Also I can wear my beanies and not deal with wires getting caught and tangled on my clothes or surrounding objects. My big reason was because I used to use my kz as10s for my commuting needs and besides no noise cancellation I would constantly rip them out of my ears getting caught on objects and didn't want to risk breaking them or damaging the connectors. (I know it's kind of ridiculous going from 60$ iems to 230$ earbuds to not risk breaking the cheaper one but this came with a lot of good features I use 5 days a week 4-5 hours a day.) My biggest annoyance is the random disconnects and them having a hard time connecting to my phone when wearing heavy clothing.

Tws earbuds are better for me because I have one of them in my ear without my boss noticing. But he would definitely notice a neckband around me.

OMG I am so glad I found your channel again. Best realistic device on gadgets EVER! I so miss the LG Tone Studios as they kept the 3.5 headphone jack. I almost forget they are still on my neck at the end of the day. LG please remake these!

I am so satisfied with my neckband till now that I have never tried a true wireless at all and neither do I intend to do that in the future LOL. Thanks for this beautiful video, it does make sense.

I felt like I was crazy for seemingly being the only one who thought true wireless buds were absolutely impractical versus neckbands / wired Bluetooth buds

PREACH, Brother! I fully agree (after having bought several pairs of truly wireless earbuds, and arriving at the thought this morning that my regular wireless, neckband-style earbuds actually sound better, and are more practical). It took me hundreds of dollars (and endless hours of watching YouTube videos, comparing different truly wireless earbuds) to figure this out. Anyone reading this, save yourselves the time! Just go with a neckband!

Or... hear me out here, wireless headphones.

Preferably with a physical connection option.

Agreed. There's also no way I would trust myself not losing true wireless buds. I've had my LG-hbs810 for 6 years without issues with an insane amount of usage.

Hey Juan. You are hands down killing it on the reviews. Thank you for being real ! What is the best sounding neckband you have tested so far? I'm skipping true wireless now that I've seen this. But I want the best

Guess what 2023 and I still buy neckbands because of how easy to operate they are.

You make a good argument - but i hate having stuff on my neck, in addition when its cold and you need a thick jacket and a scarf it wont work.

Here is some, based on my experience with both types. :)

1. Cable is microphonic, that is the sound you hear when the cable rub into your shirt and get passed into your ear. The neckband style suffer from this and depending to the cable material, some is worse than the other. True wireless completely eliminate this problem.

2. Cable still limit your head movement. For example, when I turn my head to the side, the cable (as weightless as it is) could pull the earphone in my ear even just a tiny bit. This break the seal and I need to adjust the earphone again. True wireless don't have this issue.

3. Some neckband style earphones don't magnetically attach to each other. Walking around with these hanging around from my neck is a pain, they wiggle right and left, very annoying. When I have enough of wiggling and I want to store this thing in my bag? It took more space than any true wireless with their case.

4. Cable is still a weak point, the connection between the cable and earpiece is the most common break point. Some plastic cable sleeve could peel too after a while. You need to take care when storing this neckband earphones, making sure the cable doesn't get bend too much, and so on. On true wireless, just put in the case and forget.

OMG! This guy is so on point!!! I bought my first set of neckband bluetooth several years ago. I have replaced twice with another neckband device. They are seamless devices that don't get in the way of my life.

I love this video! You literally addressed EVERYTHING I try to tell people about the first pair of LG HBS neckband headphones I had in 2013. They were way ahead of their time. And somehow, technological advances went left and made things more complicated.
