Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan, a film which celebrates the biggest sport in the world -Football, has got a new release date. A story of change and self-belief, Maidaan will now release on 13th August 2021 and it will enjoy an Independence Day weekend at the box office. The film was earlier set to release on 27 November 2020 and was later postponed to 11 December 2020. But now, Ajay took to his Twitter account and shared the new official date of his film. Earlier, it was reported that the film will be released on an OTT platform. But producer Boney Kapoorrubbished the rumours. In an interview, he said that OTT platforms and theatres can co-exist. He also said that some producers who dont mind to wait for a theatrical release, digital platforms will help those who have their films ready and may not be in a position to wait to recover financial investments. Maidaan is a sports-drama dedicated to the golden years of Indian football. Ajay will be seen essaying the role of the legendary coach Syed Abdul Rahim. Directed by Amit Sharma, the movie also stars Gajraj Rao and Priyamani in key roles.
