(Income and real estate)
Do you know what the wealthiest/richest counties are in the United States? I have gotten a lot of requests about county videos. I talk about states, cities, and towns, but never counties. So, here we are. This video is just the counties with the highest median household income according to the latest American Community Survey from the U.S. Census Bureau as of June 2022.
Right now in 2022, the nation's median household income is right about $65,000. The median household income in the counties on this list is about double that. That normally means they have a bunch of very wealthy households in that county. You need quite a few millionaires to double that number.
So, we are gonna take a look at the counties most of us can’t afford. I think you will be surprised which state has the most.

6:03 talks about Arlington, VA, shows Ellicott City, MD...

I was born and raised in Loudoun County, Virginia. There aren't a huge number of super rich people but nearly everyone there today is upper-midde class. Most of the money comes from government contractors, military contractors, and tech. Western Loudoun is still quite rural and a beautiful place to grow up and live!

I bought a small house in Los Gatos (Santa Clara County) for 26, 000 bucks in 1975. Now, Zillow appraises it at 1.25 million dollars! I wish I still owned it.

I think it's funny how little people know about Northern VA, this video shows the truth. I lived in Alexandria VA almost my whole life, and went to CA and got so many warnings about how expensive it was there lol when in reality northern VA is more expensive in every aspect besides gas. Glad to be out of Northern VA and CA lol way too crowded and congested!

I was convinced Fairfield cty, CT would make the list. My friend just bought a $2m house there and all I see when I visit is extravagant wealth. Then I looked up the median household income and it’s $97k. Makes sense though, the median household income of the city of Fairfield is $140k while neighboring Bridgeport (same county) is only $34k.

Good video Briggs but I don’t know how Fairfield County CT missed making this list with the Gold Coast towns of Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan & Westport!

Thanks Briggs, I’ve been waiting for a more county-specific video.

Pre-watch prediction: Loudon County VA. My wife is originally from there and oh boy there is a lot of money in the eastern part of the county. Also, Virginia definition has the most rich counties, NOVA is full of DC money and VA has a lot of independent cities that are their own counties. In guessing like 4-5 counties on this list are im NOVA.

My girlfriend was born in Cupertino. The family's old home sold for 1.3M back in 2007. The old home was on Zillow last year for 3.6M. Stupid prices, I swear.

Kinda weird to hear about places I know so well !

I assumed that Mclean/Tysons Corner or Great Falls would be on top. Also, never thought Falls Church is this high.

And what happened to Orange County, CA ?

Just some notes. Arlington isn't home to George Mason University, that would be Fairfax. Though Arlington does have a satellite campus. Also, when you were talking about Howard county, you were showing pictures of Fairfax, ironically, just next to GMU.

Looks like the Howard video is for Fairfax. Chain bridge road is in Fairfax not Howard county Md. non- tidal Potomac would be state boarder between Montgomery and Fairfax.

I lived in Arlington, VA for 20+ years and absolutely loved it. It has all the pluses of living in a city and a suburb but none of the city/suburb negatives. Yes, it is a very expensive place with many rich people BUT you can find a place to live there IF you want. You may have to give up the idea of living in some mega McMansion and settle for a small condo but you can live there. It is worth every dime to live in Arlington. There are many poor people (new immigrants with little money) living in Arlington but many Arlingtonians are generous and embrace the immigrant population. People in Arlington are also very well educated so the schools are outstanding

I love your channel however, every picture you showed for Howard County was in Northern Virginia. None from the state of Maryland.

I live in Loudoun County for past 5 years, moved from Fairfax County and had been living there since 1978. The main reason homes are a little less in Loudoun is because its a little further out from DC than Fairfax is, but the whole area is very affluent, crime is low but traffic can be gridlock. I like the area, there's no lack of things to do, great shopping, and restaurants.

Nice video but I have to state the pictures of houses in Loudoun and Arlington and some of the other areas in Va look nothing like your showing. I just moved from there Loudoun almost a year ago and if you think you can get a townhouse or condo for that cheap, you would have to go back to the early 2000's, (just as an fyi).
